hi i want to paint the blade and the handle of a kershaw storm, is it possible
if so how
 
You can paint about anything.

Whether the paint will last is an entirely different question.

I will add that painting knives, especially folders, is a great way to ruin any resale value.

Why do you want to paint it?
 
i want to paint the blade so it will last a long time, i do not wish to sell the knife i bought it for only $40.
 
Painting it won't make it last longer. Rust, abuse (prying) and wear from sharpening will play parts in ruining it. Most likely if you paint it with spray paint it will just chip and peel and look bad. As long as you keep the blade dry it will be fine. If you really want to protect it get a Sentry Solutions Tuff cloth and wipe it down every once in a while. Or a cheaper route would be just wipe it down with a little oil and it won't rust.
 
I will add that paint is not the equivalent of the coatings that are applied to knives at the factory. Coatings generally are put on to inhibit corrosion.
 
The Storm is already stainless steel. Corrosion is pretty much not an issue unless you are going out in a small boat on the ocean where there would be a lot of exposure to salt water.

Painting stainless steel. The phrase "guild the lily" springs to mind.
 
If your bent on painting still, then I would recommend Aluma Hyde II and a bake. You don't have to bake for the II series but I do anyway as it speeds up the process of drying. I've used this on my old Cara Cara as I really tore up the knife learning how to re profile, different types of sharpening and other learning tasks and it really looks sweet. Held up great so far, even near the pivot (almost a year of use) I know some guys use GunKote as well and I've heard it's slightly better but its also more expensive, so it's up to you.
