Painting my grinder question.

I've got a KMG variable speed grinder that I'm in the process of painting. I've had rust problems in the past and just moved from state to state. I figured since the thing is in pieces already now is a good time to anti-rust it. I'm a little wary of taking apart the chasis. Mostly, I don't know if I can safely take out the part that connects the pulley to the belt wheel in the back. From what I understand the bearings are sealed, but can that assembly come off without destroying the bearings?

Don't even bother removing the pillow blocks or anything major. Just tape them off. Take off the simple things and use tape. Get a can or the Krylon or Rustoleum HAMMER finished paint and have at it.

I mostly want to remove them to make it easier to sand and clean. Previously those areas were inaccessible for regular maintenance and have gotten rather rusty.

Are they greaseable bearings? It might be a good time to check them for wear, and give them a few shots of gease as well.

The KMG is produced with sealed bearings, but the Zerk fittings are not removed.

If you try to put grease in, it can't go anywhere.

Ok. Sounds like I can unbolt the bearings without causing them any damage. I wasn't looking forward to trying to sand around them. Thanks!
