I hope all you guys enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Food & family were a great combination this year as usual. My truck is still in the shop, screwing up my hunting, but I was home today to get a package from Leroy. He rehandled these 503s with a chevron style spacer against the armadillo inlays, after removing the rear bolsters. 1 is for a friend who is retiring after 36 years and the other is a Christmas gift. I think they turned out fantastic, and thought you guys would enjoy the pics.

That is awsome!! What's the hardness of the shell?
It looks like Leroy thinned the front bolsters too.
Very interesting pair. g

I just noticed that they are each one of a kind. The chevron on one points up and the other points down! Who's idea was that?

That's just how Leroy did them.

It is at least as hard as buffalo horn and may be as hard as rams horn.

Their shell is only about as thick as a box turtle's shell maybe less. As I've shot numerous one's hunting with my bow using only field tips and skinned them out . Still, striking . DM :)

These scales on the 503s are the only armadillo I've handled(they're pretty scarce in Va;)) I'm only judging the density by trying to make an indentation. I just spoke with Leroy and the Armadillo has been stabilized.
