Here is a pair of competition style cutters. The top piece is forged CPM3V with bubinga scales and domed pins. 9 3/4" blade and 14 1/2" overall. It has a full, tapered tang and would fit a normal sized hand. If you have big hands, this may not be the knife for you. Normal size to small.....this knife will feel VERY comfortable and secure. The balance on this knife is just right for speed. 2x4 time with this one was 9 seconds flat. It did very well on cans and rope due to the nice and even curve to the edge. Spine thickness is over 1/4" at the ricasso, and tapers to the point. The swedge is sharpened as well so it will pierce. This one is priced at $650.00
The bottom cutter is cold forged A-2. 10" blade and 15 1/2" overall. Guard is 416 stainless as is the finial (it is a take down). The handle is pomele grain bubinga. This knife will fit a larger hand as well as a normal sized hand. It's handle is long enough to accomodate a wider palm, but is not bulky, so can be weilded by a normal sized hand as well. This one is a little heavier towards the tip, and is just over 1/4" at the ricasso. it's best 2x4 time was 7.3 seconds, but was a little slower than the top cutter on the speed cuts. Cans still didn't stand a chance.
$750 takes this one home.
Both knives come with a sheath, and are absolute cutting beasts. Either knife is on par with my competition knive. Both were experiments in design and heat treating, and performed above my expectations. My next competition knife will have the same heat treat as the 3V cutter. I will even cover shipping CONUS.
