On top here's a great old school M43 by Amtrak kami (Raju Rasili; hasn't made a knife in at least 3 years that I know of).

18" and 29 oz., this one has a fantastic blade. Big bellied and super straight. Buff horn handle with solid pins, and black buffalo hide wood covered scabbard. Karda and chakmak companion knives included. $135

Thanks for looking,

3 day BTTT w/ price drop on both. No way the Amtrak will go any lower! (OK, call me a liar. :D)

Thanks,

Norm

3 day BTTT on very nice older M43. Make it $140 shipped and I'll take care of the fees.

Svashtar,

Just what does one do with these knives? I am ignorant of the type, design, and use. They are stunning knives but what does one do with them??

??? Well, you chop the living bejesus out of anything you like! :D Seriously, these were designed to be all around chopping / fighting / cutting tools. Some are more choppers than pure weapons and vice versa. It's an ancient design based on the original Greek Kopis carried by Alexander, and has stood the test of time for centuries. Many models such as the M43 (this one above is a variant of the original) and the WWII were designed specifically for use in war.

Take one of these chopping blades camping and cut wood or build a shelter and you will find that it does it better, more efficiently and faster than any other type of blade, and are a _huge_ bang for the buck. Machetes are a joke in comaprison. Look at the size and weight of these; a foot and a half long and almost two pounds of handcrafted steel for $140 and often far less for some models, handmade by dirt poor artists in barefeet out of truck springs over a 3" square anvil, and shipped 12,000 miles? There's not a maker anywhere can touch that value.

Drop by the HI Forum and you will see lots of pics and commentary on them. They are not really an acquired taste IMO. You either love _big_ honkin' sharp things or you don't. ;)

Thanks,

Norm

Classic Amtrak M43 still available. I'll go down to $135 on this guy. That's below current production price on a knife that doesn't have nearly the blade this one does, and I cover all the extras.

(BTW, do a search on the HI forum for "M43" and take a look at the blade profiles and the sword of shiva on those and compare it to this one. There is also no wave at all to this one, as was often seen with the Kumar M43's. Amtrak got it right.)
