Pairing up a khukri

When I carry a khukri in the field I find that pairing it up with either a Leatherman multi-tool or a Swiss Army pocket knife makes a pretty good "all-purpose" combination in the great outdoors.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Here's my favorite khuk setups:

If I'm packing in:

YCS - which has been customized...;-)
Pen Knife for daily carry
Puukko for kitchen duty
SwissChamp XLT

If I'm just overnighting, or going lightweight:

Pen Knife - belt
SwissChamp XLT

If I'm going heavy duty but not packing in:

22" GRS w/ Pen Knife in combo sheath
Puukko
SwissChamp XLT

I'm making the assumption that whenever anyone is carrying a khuk, it's going to be in the outdoors and not as an EDC downtown...

It may sound like I'm preaching the XLT...but to be perfectly honest, it takes up about 1/4th the space of a Leatherman and is an easy belt carry - about the size of a pager.

Khukuris and SAK's are a perfect match for me. I can't think of any cutting tasks that couldn't be handled by an 18" AK paired with a Rucksack.

Anyone create a "modern" khukuri sheath?
Instead of the traditional tools, pop in a multitool (which duplicates the functions of the chakma and karda plus more) and a small flashlight? One could almost make the above fit in a traditional sheath.

Logan1 had a modern sheath for one of his khuks at the convention. It was heavy leather, and there was a snap pouch on the front that could easily hold a multitool and small light. I think he has posted pics of it on the forum before.

I like a leatherman supertool paired up with my khukuri, or a wave with that diamond file.

My favorite setup is:
Big knife- 16.5" Chiruwa or YCS(or some other 18" Khukuri)
Medium Knife- Siegle Mini Khuk or Camp Tramp
Folder- Spyderco Chinook or Native
Multitool- Leatherman Supertool or Wave

The survival kit I sent Bruise to fight the giant worms in Saudi (though he hasnt said if it has arrived yet):

1 18" kobra
1 bottle hydrogen peroxide
1 box bandaids
1 tube neo-sporin (finally remembered a brand name for triple anti-biotic)
:D ;) :p

Fed, make sure to sharpen the Kobra before you send it, so Bruise don't have'ta bludgeon them worms to death.:D

Sarge

No worries Sarge twas worm shaving sharp when I sent it, hence the mandatory inclusion of Bruise healings tools in the package:D

Bruise just remember and repeat these sage words:

Never put salt in your eyes
Never put salt in your eyes
Never put salt in your eyes
Never put salt in your eyes
Never put salt in your eyes
Never put salt in your eyes
Always put salt in you eyes
Always put salt in you eyes
Always put salt in you eyes
Always put salt in you eyes

Muwahahahahaha

 :D
