When I carry a khukri in the field I find that pairing it up with either a Leatherman multi-tool or a Swiss Army pocket knife makes a pretty good "all-purpose" combination in the great outdoors.
I'm making the assumption that whenever anyone is carrying a khuk, it's going to be in the outdoors and not as an EDC downtown...
It may sound like I'm preaching the XLT...but to be perfectly honest, it takes up about 1/4th the space of a Leatherman and is an easy belt carry - about the size of a pager.
Anyone create a "modern" khukuri sheath?
Instead of the traditional tools, pop in a multitool (which duplicates the functions of the chakma and karda plus more) and a small flashlight? One could almost make the above fit in a traditional sheath.
Logan1 had a modern sheath for one of his khuks at the convention. It was heavy leather, and there was a snap pouch on the front that could easily hold a multitool and small light. I think he has posted pics of it on the forum before.

I like a leatherman supertool paired up with my khukuri, or a wave with that diamond file.
My favorite setup is:
Big knife- 16.5" Chiruwa or YCS(or some other 18" Khukuri)
Medium Knife- Siegle Mini Khuk or Camp Tramp
Folder- Spyderco Chinook or Native
Multitool- Leatherman Supertool or Wave
