Pala Knife

Pala and shop manager made a safe trip to Bhojpur and right now they are visiting with Tirtha Kami. Tirtha lives in Bhojpur and soon Tirtha Kami will make Knife for HI.
All and all this is a good news for all of us.

Wooohooo! Can ya believe that! Tirtha makes some great stuff! Congratulations Aunti. Pala and all! Welcome back Tirtha! Ill have a beer for you tonite!

Bawanna you might just get that Giant Chit Bowie after all eh?

I shall be hoping to be quick enough on the email button to get a couple nice Tirtha knives, as well as some of the new Kamis. Hope this and the new guys help get the shop parts of the issues resolved. Now if the other issues get settled hopefully we will be seeing some nice runs of knives. Can anyone say "I want an IBBB?" I CAN!!

I got a 20" Sirupati on a DOTD a few months ago from Tirtha and have been using it around the yard trimming Youpon bushes. I put a shaving sharp edge on it (didnt have to do much) and it is a joy to use! Light, fast and perfect for light brush trimming. Feels much like my 21" Single Fuller Chit. In my opinion he is right up there with the best of them! That will be a great catch for HI when he gets back to work, Your right Shavru. This could be just what HI needs right now.

Today I took off work to deliver the missus to the airport enroute for Sweden. Felt kind of less than hundred percent, actually of late feeling anything over 70% is a good day.

Anyhow felt like tinkering so I decided to follow the leaders here, took a day off from rabble rousing and gave my Pala knife so love. Just a little fine tuning on the handle and blade. Sanded and oiled. Its just a sweet little knife for so many things.

Unfortunately my camera went to Sweden too so I'll have to figure something else out. Not finished anyhow, gonna sand and oil a few more times, might even bling the handle a bit.

Well forgive me Mr. Pala but I ornamented your beautiful creation. I hope I added too and didn't take anything away from his good efforts.

A few hunks of ebony and some costume jewelry, couldn't afford the real stuff. A little more fine tuning and perfecting to do but I was anxious to show yall and seek Mr. Pala's forgiveness as soon as possible.

Whoooah! Check it out! Checkered inlays! and jewels! Thats cool Bawanna nice job! Pala would be proud! A Kathimoda Pala:cool:

Ethiopian opal and umm.. Tanzanite? It actually looks too dark a blue for Tanzanite, but since it doesn't have any light coming through from behind that is the closest guess I have. Looks awesome. How did you embed the jewels?

Whatever it is, I love the way the wood flows around each piece especially the opal contrast. Beautiful delicate work. My shaky hands wouldn't be able to do that even if my brain had the knowledge of how to. My lines would look more like what you see on from the DoT painted yellow stripes on the roadway. Nothin' straight! LoL

Well I wasn't completely satisfied with my checkered inlays, just felt lacking so I guess my instinct was when in doubt checker some more!

So I checkered the whole deal.

Did full on the sides and skip line top and bottom.

Thought I'd clean up the residual glue that Mr. Pala used in mounting the blade and dress that up some. First I tried another ebony inlay top and bottom but it just didn't want to cooperate at all, so I just used Acraglas with the black dye.

Missed the bottom view.

I think I'm done.

Oh Man! Thats gorgeous! Skip line on top even and the laha trick with the Acraglas looks great! Who wouldda thunk it? I hope Aunti sees this! Looks like youre out of real estate Bawanna:thumbup:

HE HE! Remember this Bawanna? Classy knife! I think Pala would be proud!
I have one I think from the same batch and had the very same exact feelings. Didn't really want to mess with what he'd done.

So far I've left it alone. I'll take some pics tomorrow.
