i got some christmas presents from paladin press this year from my family. four items were ordered at the same time with no mention of any back orders. four separate packages arrived over a few weeks time with shipping and handling being charged on each one.

i also received some gifts from brigade quartermasters where also some gifts were back ordered but they payed for the extra shipping charges which i think is the right thing to do.

i have personally ordered from pp several times over the years and this has never happened before.

Contact them and see if they can waive the extra shipping charges, or at least give you an acceptable explanation for why you are being charged.

Dear Witchhunter,

Please e-mail customer service, service@paladin-press.com and explain your problem. It will be rectified as soon as Paladin reopens after the New Year.

You should have only been charged shipping once. Your shipping charge should have been based on the total value of your order. Shipping should not have been charged on the back ordered items.

Please private message me if you have any problems.

Thank you for being a Paladin customer.

Best regards,

Mike Rigg

thanks for the reply to the situation.

i didn't place the order myself but i will contact the person who did and tell them to call after the holidays.

thanks mcr, you were very helpful:thumbup:

Witchhunter,

I am glad that I can be of assistance.

Do have the person who made the purchase refer to the thread on Bladeforums and my name, when he contacts Paladin customer service.

Happy New Year!

Class Act Mike. Well done.

Just a follow-up.

I double checked with our operations manager on the shipping issue with backordered items. I was only partially correct in my previous statement.

The total shipping charge is based on the total value of the order. If items on the original order back order, then the original total shipping charge is divided between the individual shipments. This is why it appears that you (or your friend) were billed for shipping on each individual shipment.

This division of the shipping charge is not based on actual shipping costs, we pretty much eat the shipping costs on all backordered shipments.

To address the issue of back orders:
Paladin Press now prints the majority of our books in-house in our own print-on-demand facility. Because we print in small runs, we sometimes get caught by an order that wipes out our shelf inventory. When this happens we print a new run of the title. Sometimes the backorder is only a matter of hours, sometimes it is a matter of a day or two. But when our system backorders a title the shipments get split, even if they leave our warehouse on the same day. Not the best system, but we are working on it.

Bottom line is we always try to make it right for the customer.

Best to all,

Mike Rigg

i checked mcr and that makes sense. it was roughly $4.00 per item shipped.
