Palamino?

Wow what a neet approach PALAMINO. I had a friend at my gun club show me one of these. These handles were dyed at the factory this one was not completely done or was done incorrectly. It got assembled some where. EBAY is becoming almost biblical in that it seems anything that is concievable or may have happened will appear there. LT

I posted an 897UH like this in #10 here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=383621

The seller of these called them "Buckskins". And LT is correct, they are knives that did not get the accent dye, and just show the color of the base material. As to who assembled it, I haven't a clue. But careful examination of the knife shows that is was finished in good Schrade-like fashion. Fit and finish is like any production 897UH, with the exception of the undyed scales. Perhaps a production worker was given a pile-o-parts to take home and finish as a going away present.

These color variations in the 897UH pattern have existed long before the closing of the plant. I have seen some that go back to at least the early 90's. Even though they aren't the intended color, they look attractive in their own right. That might explain why they weren't destroyed, rejected or marked as seconds.
