Palm oil for quenching

I have about twenty liters palm oil .Is it good for quenching steel like 52100 , 15N20 and 80Crv2 ?

I found some info about palm oil , but to be honest I did not really understand it all ....in particular whether it is good for 52100 , 80crv2 .......

From what I get out of that study is that palm oil will work, but it breaks down and goes rancid faster than commercial quenchants.

That information deals mostly with properties of the components in the oils . The palm oil does break down fairly quickly. Little information is given for quenching speed with specific steels. You might try to contact the authors for more information.

You need change it often, for best result every time use a fresh oil. When I used vegetable oil for quench I did it (change every time).
