This knife is a slightly different take on one of my favourite big woods knives, the seax. I made this one from *reclaimed sawmill blade steel. I hand profiled it with an angle grinder, and had talented local blacksmith Andy Pomorski anneal it, drill the holes in the tang, then normalize, heat treat, quench, and temper at 450°. Once I received the blank back, I then ground the bevels and finished the knife to what you see below. Here are its features:

*~1080 steel
14 1/4" blade length
6 1/2" handle length
20 3/4" overall length

21.4 oz

Peel ply coarse textured G10
Stainless steel tubes

Tan Kydex sheath (.08")
Black Kydex belt clip (.125")

This will make a great companion in the woods. It'll hold its own for chopping and batoning, but with it's thinness and full height convex grind it will really excel for trail clearing, passing right through vegetation and small limbs, as well as carving for feather sticks, tent pegs, etc.

I designed the handle to accommodate the Joe Flowers pinch grip machete technique, but there is enough to hold onto that if you really want to death grip it and bear down you can. The pinky hook allows the knife to be used securely without a lanyard, but the tubes provide a number of lanyard attachment options if you so desire. The straight blade will lend itself well to food prep if you are able to keep the handle's pinky hook over the edge of cutting board (or log, or whatever).

Note the belt clip is adjustable for alternative preferences, and for holes that don't line up, it is a simple mod to drill either the clip, or the sheath, or both to whatever carry method suits you, whether it be vertical, diagonal, drop-leg, etc.

And it "bears" mentioning that the balance, speed and sharpness of this piece will allow it to be a very persuasive deterrent to any predators with smaller claws (I think that's all of them, haha!) that may think you look tasty. No matter how delicious you are, with the swell of this seax in your palm, you won't be worth the trouble.

All in all, I think you will find this to be an excellent all around choice for any wooded excursion.

Asking SOLD.

Price is via PayPal G&S (I will provide the email address in private messaging) and includes expedited shipping with full tracking and insurance.

First "I'll take it" followed by prompt communication gets priority.

Thank you for looking!

I've taken it out for testing, and have found that my execution of the handle could have used a little more thickness around the first finger groove. Not that the knife didn't do its job, but I found I was having to pay a little extra care to keep edge alignment for multiple swings in a row. It's not as martial arts friendly as I had originally hoped. This is still a capable grass and trail clearing machete, but if you need to do lots of chopping, pack a thicker handled chopper, and if you have concerns of attack from predators, better to pack your pistol.

I spoke with the gentleman who took first dibs, and he will be taking another one of my pieces instead after all, so yes. Email sent with details, and thank you for the interest!
