Earlier this year Panera started filtering all of its web access, which is fine. It's a free service, they have the right to. I doubt people were looking at porn over lunch, but you never know. Until about a week ago, I could go anywhere I wanted as far as knife sites. This morning I got a cup of coffee had a seat, and lo and behold, Bladeforums and Knifeforums are both filtered out because they contain "weapons" content. I emailed the company that does the filtering and the reply back was that Panera can filter whatever the hell they want to, which, again, I agree with, but now they have been added to my list of restaurants/chains that I boycott. What a-holes. :barf:

Isn't this sort of like expecting a free sandwich, made to your specifications, every time you buy a knife?

Yeah, I suppose. I know I'm just whining, but I don't really understand the need to filter out knife websites for a completely public place like this. I can get on these same websites at half a dozen other place locally for free, it just seems lame that Panera decided this week that they don't like people looking at knife sites. But, they only filtered BFC and KFC. I could get on Badlands and British Blades without a problem.

Like I said, they have every right to filter their service however they want, particularly because it's free, but it just seems stupid to filter what they are filtering. But, I have the choice to take my business elsewhere, which is exactly what I'll do. I doubt they'll notice!

It's not a free service-it's something that's provided as part of customer service. You have every right to complain.

Steve...It's just karma catching up with you for not wanting to make that sheath for me that I emailed you about today.:D.:D.

...And all this time I thought that the weird-looking old lady in the Voodo Shoppe in New Orleans was just full of hot air.:D.:D.

If you feel so strongly about this that you felt a need to complain on Bladeforums, please take some of that energy and complain to the corporate office in a well worded MAILED letter. Thats pretty much the only way that you'll have any impact and you might be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I believe in compliments when warranted and constructive criticism/complaints when also warranted. I know that I want to be given a chance to correct a mistake I've made and I suspect that most other people want to be given that chance as well.
