Got out over the weekend and did some camping. This was actually the wifes idea, although it did not take much to convince me. We started out headed to Beacon Rock State Park but it was full so we just kept on drivin' down the highway. We found our way to Panther Creek in the Gifford Pinchot Nat. Forrest and found a great spot to set up camp. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and came home Sunday morning. On to the pics.
Our tent, 10' x 14' canvas (just big enough for the two of us:jerkit:)
We had enough room for our cotts with about 6' in between.

Looks great bro, I can't wait to get some camping in this year !

What are you implying with regards to your tent ? Do you mean it's too small ? It looks around the same size as mine and we also have my son and dog !!!!

Also had a chance to use my RAT7 to split some firewood.

I got it stuck in this piece so I decided it would be fun to make a wedge in case it happened again.

My Mora took a little abuse but nothing that can't be fixed.

The tent is way huge for us. But my wife likes to have a cott with an air matress and her sleeping bag. The advantage is the 7' ceiling, no bending over to get dressed!

Cooking dinner:

Fritos, chili, cheese and olives.

All in all it was a good weekend, nice and relaxing. No tv, no phone service and very few neighbors. This was a primitive site with the only running water being a pump from the creek, but two days without a shower was not that bad. We saw a couple of deer on the drive in, and had a lot of birds in our site (blue featherd cardinals I think) also heard a couple of owls at night.

The only set back was after the truck was packed on Sunday morning, the last thing to go in the truck was our dog, so I put him up on the picnic table to brush him off and then I was going to put him behind the driver seat in the cab area. I picked him up, my back popped, I dropped him back on the table and I hit the deck. Not too bad as I was able to get up about 10 min later. Well I am on some good pain killers now and able to sit at my desk here at work.

Hope your back feels better dude. Looks like a nice place, with great scenery, good grub, and good company.

Looks great! Maybe I'll make it over there this summer. Looks to be 3.5 or so hours from Seattle.

That fritos dish has the look of awesomeness.

That sounds like a great weekend to me:thumbup:

Excellent pics bro.

Isn't it amazing how your back goes out picking up little things. I can lift the heaviest crap w/out a problem, but god help me if I grab a quarter off the ground:eek:

Yeah, I had the whole truck loaded, that tent weighs in at around 65-70 lbs and I picked it up off the ground with no issue.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.
If your insurance covers it get your doctor to send you to see a physical therapist. I have been doing exercises to strengthen my transverse abdominus and multifidus muscles. It has really help avoid the episodes of back pain.
