paper handles?

I watched a instructional video on making your own micarta material for handle scales and it got me to thinking, could I use the same process but replace cloth with paper?

I'm thinking I would cut up some of my old comic books and use that to make handle scales for a knife to give to my nerdy sister. any thoughts on whether or not this is doable?

my biggest concerns are that it might be harder to shape the scales than micarta. might be harder to lay out the paper without it falling apart after it has the wet heavy epoxy on it. I'm also curious as to if it would set the same as micarta

There is real Micarta that is made with paper.
I share your concerns about the layout of home made paper mycarta.

Here's is a video with some people making paper micarta, they use construction paper though.
