So after some very helpful question and answers with yall i decided to give it a try, since it is my first attempt i decided to go through the "learning curve" with some cheap 3M brand resin. i decided to use blue and black layered construction paper, im not sure why but recently i have taken a liking to blue handled knives.

I then mixed up a half cup of resin and started to go to work about half way through i ran out and mixed another half cup, it went pretty quick so i think it should come out alright

after making my stack of paper and resin i put it between 2 boards and put it into my press, the press can put over 20 tons of pressure and i figured it would help with keeping everything square and even.

here it is in the press

UPDATE

sorry for the lack of update guys, i didnt notice anyone ever replied to this, this was my first time and i made a couple rookie mistakes,

i didnt apply enough epoxy to the paper so it didnt work, also the preasure from the press was more than the bottom 1x6 could handle so it split down the middle.

however i did attempt this again using some denim and it came out pretty well, i used ALOT more epoxy and put a piece of steel plate under the bottom 1x6 the block of denim micarta is currently sitting right next to me eagrly awaiting the weekend so it can be fitted to my swamp warden. i still really like the idea of the better color and the alternating pattern from the paper so i will probably try making some more this weekend while im attaching the denim micarta to my knife. i figure it cant hurt to have more than one set of scales for the knife.

PS once the denim is completed it will post some pics (probably in a new thread) or should i put them in here and just change the title?
