Para 2 defects?

My C81GPCMOBK2 Para 2 Camo Black just came in. I was going over it and I noticed not one but two 'dings' or notches in the liners on both sides. Once I saw the first one I was looking for a symmetrical or architecturally mirrored notch to satisfy a design but there is no way these are supposed to be here. I collect Spyderco's and I have never seen anything like this before. Thanks for your input. Sweet knife too.

So if 1000 others all have the same defect it's considered 'Normal'? OK, now I feel better, thanks

It's not a defect. It's a result of the manufacturing process that has no influence on how the knife functions.

That is a very snarky and unnecessary comment.

You asked for help, we told you it's normal and your response is to shout "defect!" at the top of your lungs again.

Troll much?

@neverdie36 Just wondering why a Para 2 has defects mouth. Troll? No. New to forum? Yes. And with your seniority arrogant attitude I will most likely be avoiding you.

Spyderco is committed to CQI. If quality is compromised i am allowed to talk it about and get to the bottom of why. Spydercos are the Mercedes of knives and have earned that reputation. If I find a dent in my chasis on my Mercedes, even though it doesn't effect the performance, I have every right to question how that dent got there and to find out why.

I apologize if I misunderstood your comment.

As stated before, it's not a defect. It's the same as a Sebenza having a hole in the handle for assembly.

Ok? If you are looking for your ideal of perfection for your collection the best approach would be to go somewhere that has a bunch to personally inspect to insure it is up to your standards. This is perfectly reasonable for you to want, but unlikely to achieve at random given that Spydies are produced to be affordable and to be used.

been discussed already in numerous threads, it is normal for PM2

Return it then if you do not like it. Thousands of others have no issue with it, someone will be happy to own it.

Again, as others have said, it's not a defect. It's part of the manufacturing process.

I'm going to assume that you're not familiar with manufacturing environments. There are certain notches that are left on every single manufactured product in your house - you just haven't looked for them yet. Those notches are used for specific purposes, e.g., stabilization during shaping or finishing.

Those notches are just part of the knife. They're there for a purpose. They're every bit "defective" as the jimping, the factory bevel, etc.

@hayes its absolutely not part of the finish process. It may have happened during the manufacturing process but it's not in the final, finished and complete engineering schematic drawings. It's a blemish and there is no purpose behind them. See pics. Jimping, choils, detent, thumb ramp, swedges, scallops, scales are all designed for purpose. Yes, i am familiar with something which has no purpose and then is designed for purpose with and without flaw. I appreciate your knowledge, i'm contacting Spyderco for more info.
As a collector, condition is everything. Collectors know this. If I was going to use it as a carrier, workmans knife, you would never have seen this post.

Welcome to the forum if anyone has not done so yet.:D

All of my para 2's that I have owned have had the notches shown in your photos. The notches are from manufacturing, they are either from cutting the liners or for alignment during drilling the liners out.
