Para 2 defects?

I think it's funny how i am very nitpicky about knives, and since the first day i got a para two and the subsequent paras I've had go through my hands; i never gave those notches a second thought, i had noticed them sure, but never for a minute thought they weren't normal, seemed completely ordinary to me as part of the knife.

I'm not too nitpicky depending on the cost of the knife, and I too thought the notches were normal.

Unrelated to liners however, I ordered a satin/black PM2 to give as a gift last month, and at first glance out of the box I noticed something was a little different. I compared it to my satin/black PM2, and it turned out that the black G10 on the gift knife was just the slightest shade lighter than my knife, almost kind of a just slightly faded look, and I noticed that the rounded corners of the scales were not finished quite as smooth as mine. Didn't bother me at all, I liked mine a little better, but it's just what you run into when ordering online (it wasn't a fake because it was ordered from one of the most reputable Spyderco dealers here) in that you don't get to hand pick. But I'm sure there are people also who go through a dozen camo PM2's at the store nitpicking about too much or too less of one shade of green in their pattern.

Finally, let me just say that the recipient loved his first Spyderco and uses it everyday.

I lucked out. I ordered my digicam Para2 off the internet not knowing how the camo would end up. It turned out looking better than I would've hoped, more green/OD than tan, which looks better IMO.

But OP, I wouldn't call those notches defects per se. They are more along the lines of "blemishes caused during the manufacturing process that wouldn't be cost-effective to correct".

I didn't even notice them until this post. Interesting all the little things you pick up on this forum.
