para 2 or griptilian?

I have both, and they're both different knives even though roughly similar blades lengths. If you collect knifes or own many knives would be a sin to not own both.

Para2 - ~$110-120 feels like a bargain for this knife, feels like quality. love the blade steel and overall look of the knife. I doubt the tip will break unless ur doing crazy prying. Compression lock is cool and fun, but its nowhere as easy as the axis.
Grip - I really slept on this knife, put off purchasing for so long because I thought the handles looked like crap. But WOW so impressed once I got it. The weight is perfect and the action/balance of blade is awesome when you open/close the knife. I have medium size hands and ergonomically it's probably my most comfortable knife. Everything just falls into place meaning I don't need to hold it higher or lower in my hand, thumbstuds perfectly placed as well as axis lock.

I wouldn't do anything with a grip (even in D2) that I wouldn't do with a PM2 in terms of abuse. That's what fixed blades are for. Even a Becker BK2 will lose its tip on a rock, concrete etc.

Take a look at JDavis' vid on YouTube on the PM2 which he describes it as a nearly perfect, classic design - well said! Its the "Paramilitary 2 Talk/Review" vid. The griptillian is nice but...meh.

ETA: I also prefer the FFG blade on the PM2 big time!

I was in the same boat as you, but it was a Ritter Griptilian vs the Para 2. I chose the Grip because I found an M4 Grip for a good price and because I don't really like the idea of Spydercos pivot system they use on the Para 2. Don't get me wrong tho, I will buy a Para 2 someday, but as far as my first $100+ knife goes, I went with the Griptilian because I felt it would be a little tougher and because their warranty is better than Spydercos.

PM 2 is a better value (at least was when you could find them). I like it's thin profile over the bulky fullsize Griptillian. Now being you are getting on with G10, it may be a bit thinner, but I'm not guessing by much. The grip is much bigger on the PM2 if you prefer real estate. I do prefer the Axis lock over the compression of the PM2, it's more fun to play with and still very strong.. at least strong enough for anything you should be using a folder for.

I know you are set on one of these two, but I'd throw out a few others I prefer over both.. the Spyderco Techno (small and beefy) and the BM 940 (thin/light/tough). I also prefer the mini-grip over the full-size ones.

I have both and prefer the manix 2 over both :) the camp perry handles look cool, but are pretty slick and don't grip well. I'm waiting for a 550 blade to swap and try that, maybe ill like it better then.
