Para 2, prices keep rising??

I think I saw one go for $88 on the exchange the other day. Sold in less than a minute.

Yeah the seller agreed to sell it to me... But I couldn't pay on time, I was at work on my iphone between breaks. By the time I got on he already sold it. I got a surplus of Para2's but for that price, hey why not good timing on the exchange right?

I still think that the Para2's will catch up eventually. Hopefully dealers keep them down also. I know Spyderco/Sal urges them to do so.

I hate this because I really want to get my first PM2 but I refuse to pay the unreasonably high prices. What do you mean by they will start making them again in 2014? Have they stopped making them for the rest of 2013? That's a hell of a long time to stop making something that is in such high demand!

Actually no I was wrong. I just looked it up. I got the impression from a friend that they had stopped making them for a while but it's not true. this is from the spyderco forums: "They tried an experiment with the Para 2, significantly lowering the price from the Para 1. The gamble was whether the lower margin would be offset by higher sales. The sales have been so high that they've had trouble all year making them fast enough to keep from selling out. They stopped doing exclusives until they could catch up. I think you are having trouble finding this model because they haven't caught up yet."

That's why there's such and incredibly high demand!

No way to know what people will pay for these things in the future, as there is a lot of emotion involved in knife buying even though many people don't think of it in those terms. This price tsunami we are currently experiencing is temporary, and the day will come when things will return to "normal". As with ammunition, generators and lots of other stuff, the time to stock up on Para 2's and other knives you dig is before the shortage hits.

Yeah that's true. People are getting desperate to get one and will get all in a panic and buy one fo' $160 or something ridiculous. lol. I got mine for $80 about 6 months ago, strongly considering putting it up on ebay for $150 or so and see if I can make a huge profit :P but then again it's a great knife so not so sure if I'm gonna get rid of it.

They still pop up randomly on eBay for around a hundred. From dealers that are big enough that they don't keep up with how much they are bringing these days. I found two nib black blade, camo for 104 each. You just have to be fast!

Mine came about two to three weeks ago from knife center. I'm pretty sure we can mention knife center on the forums, right?

Anyway, I got the all black DLC version and it was 128 bucks with shipping. I really don't think that's a big price increase and you can probably get that or similar if you are willing to get on a list for when the next shipment arrives at your knife dealer of choice.

But if you want it now than speed is going to cost you money.

Next time get your folder sent opened, well wrapped and mark as "fixed blade" knife. The X-Ray only sees what an X-Ray sees!
It will show the skelontonized liner so you may want to wrap the handle several times with tin foil.I used to screen incoming defendants going to court. One day a couple from Mexico came in and the mans billfold had what looked like a box cutter on the X-Ray.When I made him pull it out,all hell broke loose. It was three condoms and his wife went Postal on him.Lol,I had to pull her off him.:o

Is it wrong to call the sellers greedy when they sell a knife for twice the price it used to be?
