I would send it in for the warranty dept to check out.
I have had 2 para 2's and they never had any play. They did open more smoothly over time though. I also only use mineral oil or canola oil for lube/protection because I use my knives for food prep. (Cheese, sausage, chicken, etc.) This is one Spyderco's best designs (IMO) and you will see the difference when you handle one done right.
