Para 2 Questions

PM2 tip is for delicate work... it's pointy!

The Shaman is a wonderful blade and stocky!
Yes, compression lock.
Better steel, depending on what model you get. No different than a PM2.
Okay. That seems crazy. Why make a delicate knife that is so big and robust. I guess I'm off the PM2 again.

Regarding tip strength, choosing the correct steel is going to be far more important than whether or not you go with a PM2 or Shaman. The Shaman is significantly heavier and bulkier than the PM2, especially from the perspective of an ultralight backpacker. You're probably not going to find a new Cruwear Shaman for less than $400, while the Cruwear PM2 is available in both a current production model and an upcoming sprint for less than $200.

I wouldn't call myself ultralight. Those guys don't even take knives, or if they do it's ceramic. CRAZY!

Anyway do you have details on how to get the PM2 cruwear under $200, or info on this upcoming "sprint" you mentioned?

The DLT drop will be scheduled, but I don't think they've announced the date/time yet. The micarta production version has been hitting dealers for weeks, but they sell out pretty fast when they get a new shipment. Your other option is to try eBay and pay $230-250 for micarta, or watch the sale threads on here for a better deal. The PM2 is a popular model, and Cruwear is a popular steel, so there will definitely be some hunting required.

Spyderco G10 handles are just fine, so I'll try to buy a DLT PM2 with purple g10 and cruwear (I can't get passed the cutout on the regular production PM2 with micrata and cruwear).

This issue has been a dealbreaker for me as well. Luckily I already have the DLT purple/DLC from 2020.

Does the Para 2 have a "weak" tip?

What is the use case for a Para 2?

Can you beat it up and pry with it?
Weak is a relative term. It will have less strength than some blade geometries.
I have 4 different PM2 that I use for EDC. I cut open packages, cut string, carve on pieces of wood and plastic in my workshop, things like that. I don't pry with it, I don't beat on it.
I would not attempt to beat up or pry with my knife, any folding knife. You can find at least one video on youtube where someone is stabbing a PM2 into pieces of wood and prying them out. The problem with that is you never know the limit until you've broken off the tip. And occasionally someone posts a photo of a PM2 with blade broken in half, maybe once a year.
If you are intentionally prying with a knife then you should get a stout fixed blade. There are knives that people call "sharpened pry bars", or you can even carry a small pry bar.
For any type of knife that you are considering, there are various steels available. If you are interested in prying with a folding knife, try to find one in Cruwear or 3V, they will withstand prying better than other steels. Don't even think of trying it with Maxamet.
