Para 2 satin vs black blade

No matter which way you go, a quick oil rag wipe once in a while is all it takes, and will help keep your surface pristine (from rust that is, not scratches from use).

Black coating in no way affects the action on a PM2.
I have both and like the look of the coated blade with digi camo.

I've heard some people with OCD don't like them because there always seems to be a finger print or something on the blade.

I like to have a few folders with black blades for a change of pace, and if a person is going to have a black blade then a black Spyderco is the best choice. My black blade Spyderco is actually a Manix 2 XL.

In my experience, coating on a blade will add resistance in cutting. As for anti friction, i think it does the opposite.. i haven't used a DLC blade to cut before, so I'm not sure about the cutting ability, i still don't like black colored blades. Satin is sexy and cuts smooth.

While black looks cool I personally prefer satin.
A blade that is made of steel should look like it is made of steel ==> satin.
When cutting food, most used application, I also prefer the clean look of satinfinish.
hope this helps.

Ive had 3 para2's all in s30v, and i couldn't notice a difference between cutting and corrosion resistance in any of them. They never got rusty on me though. 1 was satin, 1 was dlc coated, and 1 was a trade that had a different coating on it. Didnt know what that coating was, but it was the better one in my opinion. I used it the most and it never did show signs of wear what so ever. The previous owner said he duracoated the scales on it, so i would assume that was on the blade as well.

I have a Satin PM2 in digicamo like I like a lot. I've been eyeing an all Black PM2 but I go back and forth between thinking that they look tactical and aggressive and that they look sleek and classy. Personally, I feel like the black g10 and satin blade combo is everywhere and I always find myself wanting something a little different. Of course, that's just me!

I just ordered a Manix 2 with a black blade so I guess I'll know soon enough!

I've had both. Kept the Satin and use it frequently. Like all stainless steels it will still rust if not maintained. I have had this happen on both my PM2 and Military. Very easy to get rid of though. Nothing really to worry about. Don't know about the DLC rust resistance. Sounds like a good topic for another thread. "Different coatings and their rust resistance".

machs nix!

That's a term I have not heard in years! LOL. And you are 100% correct. In the big picture it does not really make any difference which finish the OP gets. The PM2 is a good knife and would make a fine blade for daily carry.

Personally, I would pick based on F&F and price.

It's personal preference. The coating does add extra protection but not permanently, and I dont think it's worth the extra money. (its about 25 dollars extra on Amazon. $120 vs $145) but if you like it go ahead! Personally I like the black handles and the satin blade. I feel like black blades look very tacticool. Like on my zt 350. I've had it for about a year and the coating is still on except it's more worn on the tip. Your choice!
