PARA 2s at blade HQ now!

BladeHQ is not know for the best prices around. Some places still sell them when in stock for about $105 for black/satin version. Still beats $175 for that version.

Also, the BHQ prices included shipping, so the delta is a little thinner than it might first appear (assuming that the $105 level is w/o shipping?).

Unfortunately, their free shipping doesn't do me any good. When they ship free it goes USPS and requires a signature (at least mine have) and that requires a 30 mile round trip to the P.O. So it is cheaper and easier for me to have them ship via UPS @ an extra $5.99. If they didn't require the signature, then the mail person could leave it in the bank of mail boxes at the end of our road. Eh.

I buy elsewhere when I can and use BladeHQ when I have no other choice. And when I do use them, I try to bundle several things up at once. In this case, I bought a second knife (translucent blue Manix 2), some lanyards, some skull beads, a few other items. It works. But BladeHQ is not my first choice to shop because of their shipping requirements.

Is that your first manix LW? Mine is on the way, but you will get yours before me. Love to hear what you think of it when u get it in!

I have a Manix2 XL already and love the knife, but this will be my first regular sized Manix. I'll post something after it gets here and I use it for awhile. The XL is a great knife and feels perfect in hand. But it is a bit big at times, so I'm hoping that the smaller Manix will have the same positive attributes as the XL, but will serve better when a smaller size is called for.

All sayonara bye bye now. To be honest, even though I've been an avid collector of Spyderco knives since they first came out, there have been many I never could wrap my head around...they just didn't get my attention, let alone hold it for any length of time; the PM2 is one of them. I bought one a few years back, and sold it within a week. But I understand those who seek these knives, and yes, they do sell out very quickly, no matter what the price. Even eBay re-sellers have been getting $300 to $400 for these knives.

dang it!!! Tried placing an order but international customers must call in, and their office is closed until Monday. Likely sold out by then...

I hate you guys. I ordered one. :friendly_wink:

I managed to grab a black G10/satin blade version before they sold out. My first Para that's NOT a sprint run, plan on making this my new primary EDC.

Also, you guys DO realize that you can just ask Blade HQ to not use signature confirmation in the notes box before you submit the order, right? It's not a requirement at all, they just throw it on there by default for most expensive orders. I've asked them to leave it off almost every single one of my purchases from them, and they've never failed to honor the request without question, no matter how costly the knife. They even mention that you can request they leave off the signature requirement on their site FAQ.

Blade HQ's customer service is absolutely fantastic, you should ask before assuming they won't do something for ya.

For what it's worth, I ordered "free shipping" and it arrived USPS priority mail with no signature required. Overall, I'd give BHQ's free shipping an A+. I ordered at night, they shipped the next day and it showed up two days later. Considering the cost ;) it's hard to beat that deal, although I have no illusions about shipping being a cost that's ultimately baked into the product pricing. Still, I'd say:

I did not know that. Thanks for letting us know. I also had a Benchmade Rift on that order, so that may be why I had signature confirmation. I never read their policy, because like KW and GP, I never worry about being taken care of if something is awry.

Mine came in yesterday, and it's flawless. Really flawless. However, I felt weird carrying it today. I'm so used to Benchmades that is seems almost plain.

Hopefully it will grow on me, because I really like the quality, and looks. It just feels weird when I reach in my pocket and pull it out.

I would compare it to the Sebenza. Super nice, but plain. It might just be because this is my first Spyderco in well over a decade and I just need to adjust to it. I was also carrying a Rukus which is a large heavy folder which could further make it seem weird.

Overall rating quality @ $120 has to be a solid 9. I sliced some of the extra thick professional electrical tape today, it was like butter. Great job Spyderco. Now I just have to get used to your knives.

I did ask by phone, before placing this last order, hoping that they might be willing to waive that for me. I explained my situation and was very nice and polite. They said it was a requirement and there was nothing that they could do. So, I ordered to be shipped through UPS. I can only go by what they tell me. Based on what you said, maybe I got someone new? But not just an assumption on my part although you assumed it was. ;)

Edit:
Interesting about the mention in the FAQ. I may try to point that out the next time I order from them. I had not seen that so did not bring it up.

Edit II:
BTW, no doubt they have great customer service that works for most people. My situation is different than most. I deal with things like this regularly because of the remote area in which I live. I'll still order from them when I have to, and elsewhere when I can. I'll be getting my PM2 & my blue Manix2 from them today.

And that is true for anyone who offers free shipping. When I order an item of any kind from anyone (and I do a lot of that) I always figure shipping into the final cost - and I don't always buy the cheapest. Sometimes it is worth a few $$$ to buy from someone that I have prior positive experiences with.
