So I just got mine, picked up at a local dealer nearby today, plain edge. I am having trouble uploading pics (it says they’re too large?) but if anyone wants proof I can email you!

In short, it’s pretty great! Smooth edges, nice FRN feel/texture, everything fits together tightly...it’s a win!

It’s very light, carries well with the wire clip and new position, cams hair popping sharp. I will be carrying it a lot this weekend!

Next, looking forwards to the navy blue S110V version...

How does the action compare to the g-10 para 3 or pm2?
Ok so I don’t want to be unfair since it’s brand new but it’s a little still and the detent is a little firmer than I prefer. That said, it may just be mine.

I ran it through an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner last night (something I find helps to remove factory grit on new knives without disassembling them), it’s smooth but still firm, does not drop free but flicks fine. Maybe it will break in over time.

I would be surprised if they don’t make one...also I bet dealer exclusives will come in the future...wouldn’t hold my breath for Maxamet though.

The Spyderco rep at the table they just had at the Oregon knife show said that there were a number of really cool dealer exclusive’s coming. I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves.

That’s great to hear...when you think about it, it’s a very easy model to create variations. One whole side (the non lock side) is just FRN.

I’m thinking:
Orange/S90/XHP
Navy S110 (regular production)
Grey Maxamet (doubtful)
Brown XHP
Burnt orange Rex45
All black (DLC) BD1N (regular)

I suspect we’ll definitely see a translucent/M4 one at blade HQ. Probably a good chance of a red/M390 version st DLT (though the g10 version might need to come first). Blue and M390 should go to Bento Box Shop.

A grey/cruwear sprint might be in the cards as well.

We'll just have to wait and see! :D

I just handled one (spyderedge though) at the outlet store today. It felt a lot nicer and more solid than I thought it would. I’m pretty excited to get one.

I handled a spydie edge version at a store today and the action was very good. The feel of the knife met all my expectations. I’m very excited to get one in pe.

So I left it semi wet last night after cleaning the blade (I had used it earlier), woke up this morning to find brown spotting on the laser engraving, did not expect that.

Hoping that the corrosion resistance being not super high is a sign that the steel is run to a high HrC?

That has happened on H1 salts and I believe the verdict is it’s leftover steel from the machines on the engraving that is actually rusting. I’m sure somebody can chime in to confirm or clarify.

I hope that is the case, it came right off with a little rubbing alcohol, I was definitely surprised as I was/am under the impression that BD1N is the most stainless production steel outside of LC and H1

I'm excited to get one but even more excited about some dealer exclusives, especially a CS DLC orange and the BHQ DLC M4.

I got mine and am liking it a lot. It makes me think of it as Spyderco's response to Benchmande's bugout - lightweight knife with their signature lock and most popular deep carry clip.

The action is good and getting better as I break it in. The knife is very similar to the Sage 5. It is nearly identical in size all the way around. The blade shape is obviously different with the para shape on the Para 3 LW which I prefer and the gimping is worlds better as it always is on their knives from Golden. The edge came razor sharp and I'm curious to see how well the BD1N steel holds up. Great knife!

I’m pretty sure the concept of an FRN Para 2 was probably discussed at some point over the years, then when the Bugout came out and was so popular I bet they said “hey you know what” and this what we got. This knife is directly targeted at the Bugout, a lightweight EDC at a lower price than many other models.

I’m not holding my breath for a LW PM2 though!
