anyone else have trouble with their para military handle? the little metal fasteners (where a lanyard would go) fell off. well, the inside one fell off, and the other bigger one slipped into the handle. i didn't notice until the blade wouldn't close :( . now a lanyard holds it in place. mine is the d2 sprint run with the green handle, edc user.

yea, i'm sure they would. not sure it's worth the hassle though. this is my edc that i use many times a day. i was wondering if it happened to anyone else, and if so, maybe just a superglue fix???

It's an expensive knife. I would get it fixed. The "hassle" would likely consist of contacting just mailing it to them. I don't have a para but I haven't seen this issue here or on the spydie forums...

Send it to Spyderco. It's worth getting it fixed. I've never seen an issue like this, but it's probably a "manufacturing defect" that is covered 100% under warranty. They'll make it right.

BTW: Nice choice on the Para. I love mine in D2. :)

I just had to send off my Sebenza for some work that I thought was a hassle.(Sticky lock bar) However, since the benza is gone, my D2 para is back in my pocket. I sure did miss this beast of a knife! I forget how smooth this sucker is!!! :D

Send off your Para, since it is your EDC you want to make sure its in tip-top condition. Never know when you would need to rely on it, so might as well ensure that it is performing at 100%.

My D2 Para is fine. Only trouble I've had out of mine is a chipped tip and thats my fault.
I sharpened it out though. My heart stopped the instant if slipped from my hand. :(

I have the same problem on my FG D2. The inside lanyard pin just fell out. After looking at it, I don't even see what's supposed to hold it in and keep it from falling out. I can slide it in and out by just pushing it from either side.

It's just pressed in I believe. I would send it back but the other option may be to try and flare the outside edges of the lanyard tube while keeping it flush on both sides. Maybe with something hard with a rounded tip that is just slightly smaller than the inside lanyard tube diameter. Maybe just a dab of clear silicone caulk between the scale and lanyard tube.

yup, that's exactly it.

thanks reeek, i may try that first before sending it off. it's really just more of an annoyance that anything that would affect the overall performance of the tool.

I thought of those options Reek. I think the best bet would be to epoxy it to the inside of the spacer it sits in so it could be removed as one piece if you took the knife apart for whatever reason. I wouldn't want to flare the ends since it would pretty much make it permanent and you wouldn't be able to remove the scales if need be.

Understood. IIRC, I seem to remember seeing apost where it was said removing the lanyard tube from a CF scaled Military could cause some damage, almost as if the ends are flared just a tad.

Regardless, I think you have a plan now with sending it back as an option as well.

I sent a couple knives back to them and had them back 9 days from the day I shipped them but I do live a 3 day UPS ground distance from Colorado. If you request a sharpening when you send it back I believe they will do that too.

Yeah, I epoxied the throng hole tube into the spacer, so I'm sure it'll be fine. Not really worth Spyderco's time to send it in for something that's easily fixable. Still, I'm surprised at how's it's assembled. Sal and the crew usualy think of everything, so I'm just curious as to how it's supposed to be fastened in there.

As mentioned, maybe it's supposed to be press fitted or something and a few got out without being finished? Either way, the knife is outstanding. The CPM D2 has performed wonderfully so far, as I suspect it will for quite sometime. Sal really hit one out of the park with these FG D2 Paras.
