Para II

I remember reading on the spyderco forum that many people want a 4 way clip and that Sal and team are busy refining the comp lock so that it will shut the blade closed the last cm or so like a lock back. Just those improvements alone will improve the knife IMO and I will take it.

I am relatively new to Spyderco knives, do they tend to release new models throughout the year, or are they released at one point, i.e. when the new catalog hits the street?

The new catalog jut came out. look at their web site. Spyderco releases new models often and sometimes just improves on existing poplar models with different color handles, handle materials and exotic steels. They have sprint runs too where they only make a couple of hundred of that run and they usually are VERY desirable.

"Sal and team are busy refining the comp lock so that it will shut the blade closed the last cm or so like a lock back." I didn't know that. I think that that would be a cool design feature. I don't see how a 4-way clip is an upgrade. I say, accomodate the lefties and leave it tip-down.

I'd heard that S30V is a tad less corrosion resistant, and a tad more wear resistant.

I've noticed both and prefer VG10.

D2 was the best thing to happen to the para, far easier to sharpen and stays that way... I don't mind at all the trade-off of rust resistance, as I keep mine clean and dry...

I always end up with rust spots after a day of carry...no idea why, maybe I have acidic sweat?

I'd prefer D2 to S30V too...if I'm going to be wiping off rust. As a matter of fact I'm about to get a (certainly non stainless) Gayle Bradley. I like VG10 for ease of sharpening-it takes less time to grind and polish and is easily touched up.

Agreed. I do not have a problem with the clip at all but most prefer the low ride clip and 4 way carry option. If you venture over to Spyderco's forum there is a LONG thread about what the customers want for the Para (kudos to Sal and team for listening to the customers again) I do feel that more dedicated left hand knives should be made like the left handed Military and left handed Sebenza. I am not a lefty but my one friend is and he is always looking for a good left handed knife and boy are they rare.

I can't stand the low ride clips, It gives you nothing to grab to get it out of your pocket.

Exactly.

I'd hate to see the new Para 2 get released with a low rider clip . I can understand the demand for a four way clip though. Imo the current Para's clip is perfect as is.

Bo.
