Para-Military (yes another one)

Yes, the Para has a spring action to the start of the movement. As for pinching, this might be a handle rather than lock issue. But some locks are far more ergonomic for some people than others.

There is no ball bering detent in the Para. The tip of the lock is used in a detent on the tang amd as the Yojimbo.

The "pinching" is something we've been refining from the beginning. I think the current Para, Yojmbo & ATR are the best for not "pinching". It's a "form" issue which we mod 1mm at a time.

Each time we create a new model or refine an existing design, it gets a little better. We are commited.

No detent ball. Wow. It sure acts like it has one. When I close the Para Mil and watch the lock as I close the blade the lock moves in toward the blade at the final position just as the blade meets it rest position exactly like a detent ball would when it falls into the hole in the blade.

Cool writeup, STR. I've looked at the para many times, then went with the manix instead because of its great size & perfect grip. Not too big at all, perfect for a weekend outing in jeans that don't fit 80's tight :).

It's poetry in motion to closely watch the compression lock work on the ParaMilitary.

Sal,
Thanks for posting on this one, I know you must be a very busy man.

You know, it's one of the greatest things about Spyderco--you guys are always improving your knives.
I always seem to come back to Spyderco.

Thanks,
Allen.
