I have a full size manix and have just recieved the para military.I have read a review on this where it states the para could have been designed for the spyder drop opening method.
I don't know what i'm missing here but i can't see a way of doing this at all.The single position of the clip does'nt seem to afford a way of using this method.
I'm inclined to think the tester has never actually handled one,but i stand to be corrected.

I carried my Paramillie just yesterday and have been using this opening method. Perhaps your perception of the "Spyderdrop" is incorrect. The Paramilitary is one of the best designs for this. Here's why:

The "high-ride" clip makes about an inch of the knife protrude from the pocket. (I seem to be in the minority of thinking this is a great feature) This assumes you are carrying in the front right pocket. The natural motion to pick up the knife assumes your palm faces your hip. You then pinch the protruding part of the Spyderhole, which should lie just under the pocket line.

Pull the knife upward and free of the pocket. The blade should point downward, parallel to your thumb. Given that the Spyderhole is large, you have a lot of purchase to hold the blade. Raise the knife so your thumb and blade point upward.

Then, simply flick the handle down while holding the blade. The smoothness of the compression lock will have the handle simply glide open and lock- a Spyderdrop.

I also like high riding knives, for that same reason. Low riders also have their place, I like the clip on my Caly3 SE. It rides low in my back pocket(great for slack carry), but when I'm in jeans I'd rather carry a high rider.

yes,eojk,I understand that,and the knife is perfect for doing that and closes under gravity as well.
The review i looked at was {outdoors-magazine.com/s_article.php?id_article=250 }
I can't get it to show at the moment,but the way he talks it sounds like he is describing the opening method of the endura emerson wave.Very confusing1.Yet the rest of his review is of the para military.

is the comp lock reliable? seems that little piece f metal in the inlay of the knife would move when using the knife under extreme circumstances, causing the knife lock to fail... ??? is this a worry of anyone else?

The spyderdrop? Are you kidding me? That works with any liner or frame locking knife I've ever handled!

I get that Spyderco makes great knives; I love them too. But give credit where credit is due...and not when it isn't. Thats my opinion, feel free to flame me.
