Did the para military ever come in just D2 or was it always cpmD2.
The reason i ask is some sellers say D2 while others say cpmD2 also some of the handle colours look brighter green than others with some looking almost olive green.
Thanks for any info.

The only steels the Para have been made with are S30V and CPM D2. The former is regular production, the latter was a Sprint run with foliage green handle. Some sellers either don't know there is a difference between CPM D2 and ingot D2, or simply don't care. The handle color is really a gray-green which some sellers photoshop to a brighter green to emphasize that it isn't something else. Or they may have taken a stock photo of the black version and recolored it to green.

The foliage green grips actually look different during the day due to lighting and what they are beside, so that might play a little part in it.

Now I'll show my ignorance I didn't know there's a difference. What is the difference guys and or Sal?

Between S30V and CPM D2, or between CPM D2 and regular D2?

S30V and D2 are different steels. D2 is supposed to have better edge retention, but it isn't a stainless steel (it almost is).

CPM D2 and D2 are both the same steel, except the CPM goes through some process over at Crucible to make the grain structure more even throughout the steel. As a result, it's supposed to sharpen easier and hold an edge longer.

S30V itself is a CPM steel, I believe, even though it's not specified.

If I made any mistakes, please correct.

Correct. CPM D2 is, in essence, D2 steel made using Crucible's powdered metal process rather than conventional smelting. The results are a more even distribution of elements, finer grain structure and (in my experience with both) increased corrosion resistence.
