Every New Year I look over my knives. Some go, some stay. Today, the Spyderco "Para Military" is back in my pocket. The blade shape and finish, the Spyder hole and the open design just do it for me. It's like getting a new knife. Thanks Sal and Spyderco!

I couldn't agree more, Lycosa. The Para-Military is one of my top 10 favorite knives.

10-4!! Do you know if a low-rider clip would work on this knife, like STR makes? I'd like to see a pic of that clip on a "P-Millie." Thanks.

I believe that STR does a lot of 'low rider' clips for the Para-Military. Sorry, but I don't have a pic.

I decided to keep the clip that comes with the P-Mil. It works and that's that. It's nice have'n the Spyder back in my pocket! Thanks.

Yup, the Para is a winner for me too, also not throwing away the Endura any time soon:D

IUKE12,
The Endura was my first Spyderco. It is my second favorite Spyder. Thanks for the post.

The Para is superb! I love taking out a knife that's been stored a while and getting to enjoy it all over again like it's new. It really makes it tough to choose a favorite, though!

SAFFR,
It really is!! I kept my Endura in my pocket longer than any other folder. I think the P-Mil. will surpass it. BUT--- ya never know!

Lycosa,
Yea, got my first Endura not too long ago and it's really tough to beat. So I'd been carrying it–t's all good–when the other day I bought some plastic storage boxes for my knives and when I sorted them I traded the Endura in for the Cento 4 (another favorite), though I almost grabbed the Para.
I'm ready for the Para, now, though . . .
Got it.
Time to contemplate–again and afresh–Spyderco's brilliance in design!

Sffar,
No more Endura! You prefer the Cento over It? I almost bought a new Endura until I took out the P-Mil. and said--what the hell am I do'n!! The rest is history. There's something about Spyderco.

There is something about Spyderco. Everytime I pull out my knives to "check" on them my Endura 4 always catches my attention. It's just a great knife and I can't help but carry it for a little while just to have that "new knife" feeling. I would like to get the para military, but I'm on break so money isn't coming in yet (working for my university right now), maybe I'll trade for one at my friend's surplus shop.

Don't get me wrong, I still have the Endura! The Cento 4 is particularly a favorite, though. What a blade–like a little straight razor! But I just pocketed my Para, and will be carrying it for the next few days. It is superbly built and refined. Super smooth. I think I've got 15 Spyderco's at least, and they all see pocket time. Each is excellent in it's own way, and each is a pleasure to use and contemplate as a design marvel in it's own right. There's something about Spyderco alright!! I think a big part of it is that Mr. Glesser appreciates a well designed knife as much as his customers. Here's to Sal Glesser and his original design the Para Military!!!

Thanks for the posts. I'm curious to see how long we'll carry our Spyders. I'm go'n for the long haul. You guys keep me up to date also. Stay in touch!

Just pocketed my Endura, actually now I'm opening and closing it while I read:D.

Something came to mind when reading up a little more about the para military on the Spyderco website. What is the pressure lock that it mentions?

One more question to edit in, is $129.99 for the Spyderco Military a good deal?

I was just reading this thread and managed to let my Manix bite the crap out of my knuckle. It's currently bleeding through 3 bandades. I'm a genius.

Just thought I'd share.

Batosaii117,
The pressure lock is a sort of liner lock that engages from the top of the handle. It slides between the tang of the blade and a stop pin to prevent the blade from closing. The Yojimbo uses the same lock. Very strong and unlikely to get pushed unintentionally.

Lycosa, Best wishes! Para Wins! It's a keeper.

It's a lock on the spine of the knife. It's supposed to be VERY strong, but I've heard you can attribute a little blade play to it over a period of time.

I'll edit too.

No, you can get them on ebay for around $100 plus shipping.

Thanks for the input sffar.

Sffar,
