Para2 deployment methods

Properly tuned, a Para 2 opens buttery smooth, so I like to open mine different ways. Although I AM partial to compression lock knives where I can just release the tension on the blade and flick the knife open and closed with my wrist.

With most of my thumb-stud and thumb-hole knifes I open them in a controlled manner by putting the skin of the end of my thumb in the hole and pushing out and up with it. My thumbnail is not involved. My Para2 is very smooth but doesn't work with the "flick" method. If you release the lock and flip your wrist, the blade will open but it will bounce off of the blade stop and flop around. Now my Manix 2 is completely different. The nature of that lock is that once you are past the detent, it doesn't really drag on the blade so I can flick that one open with my thumbnail in the thumb hole, and when the blade reaches the stop the lock engages and holds it open. Except for the tip-up part my Manix2 is my fastest unassisted knife to open, and faster than most of my assisted knives. Only my Blur is really faster. I have another Manix 2 that I just got and it has more friction in the pivot so it is harder to open.

I feel like mine used to be like butter, but now is a little stiff. But I barely ever use it, and havent been giving it proper fondling time lately. Maybe I just need to give it some use, or does it need more?

Try to have your ring and pinky finger fully extended while your middle finger is ready to fire the blade out. With the way your hand works, the middle finger won't flick as hard unless these fingers are straight. Plus, they won't get in the way.

Please disregard if you already do this.

Oh, you definitely have to stick your pinky out - especially if you are a true gentleman!

Middle/Ring finger flick or holding down the lock and flicking are my two favorite ways to open. However, when around non-knife people, I usually just open it the ordinary way to prevent suspicious glances. Flicking it just feels so good though. Sometimes, if it's been a long day, I'll go into the bathroom at work and whip it out and flick it a few times to alleviate some stress. I should clarify, I mean flicking the knife.

^ lol

I don't know how you guys flick it with your middle or index finger, maybe I have weird hands. Flicking it with my thumb seems natural and is really easy though. With that said, I usually just kind of glide it open with my thumb. I do it so fast though, it's no slower than "flicking".
