I'v been lurking around for a Para2 in M390 for some time now. My main problem is that it has to be located within EU for me to have any chance to get it into Denmark.

Now I found one, but the guy wants $275 shipped for it, and it seems like a awefull lot.

What would you do?

You can still buy them from the original dealer for $100 cheaper than that....

EDIT: Just saw you were in Europe. That sucks man, but worth is relative. M390 is a great steal.

But the original dealer is in the stats, witch means it has to go through Danish customs, witch again means it will get rejected and send back.

Good knife, and good steel.

That would be a pretty high price in the states.
As Scott said, about $100 less here.

You're probably the best judge if a $175 knife on the US market is reasonable for $275 in Europe. Sounds like your options are limted, so it very well could be worth it to you.
At least it includes shipping.:D

I'd skip it for that price. Especially if you're able to get your hands on the standard production model for less. Are you?

Yeah, I can get my hands on the S30V one for $200, I guess Spyderco's are just expensive over here. But I didn't realize that the difference was so "small". I think I'll just jump the gun on the M390 one, if the S30V will set me back 200 bucks anyway.

I envy you americans and you damn low prices!

Yeah, then you may as well get the M390 like you're saying. If the price difference is the same as it is here (about $75 between the two steels), why not?

Haven't heard this in a while!

From a purely functional perspective, I would say that none of these spendy knives are "worth" the money. I buy them because I like them, and they are fun to play with and fun to carry. But in terms of edge retention, ergonomics, utility and all of that good stuff, is a $300 knife worth 4 times as much as a nice $75 knife? I don't think so, but thats just my opinion.

So if you are going to get $275 worth of enjoyment from a Para 2 sprint run, then go for it. If you are looking for $275 worth of utility, I would say no thanks. JMO. :)

For only 75 bucks more, I would. I think we were all assuming the S30V would be the US price.

It's worth it for the steel alone and with Spyderco's HT it's really excellent.

M390 is one of the better stainless steels out right now and it's more affordable than steels like S90V and S110V and easier to work with for the manufacturer.

What are the chances of it being confiscated if anyone sees you with it there? If they're high, I'd say it's not worth it. That having been said, M390's really nice steel and the PM2 is a very good knife.

The chances are very small, I live in the countryside and most people here have illegal knives with no problems.

The guy selling has a CTS-20CP too, and I am starting to have doubts if M390 is the way to go.

M390 and CTS-20CP have about the same edge retention.

Yes, I would go ahead and spend the extra $75 for the M390 version. The difference in price isn't as great as I would have thought it to be. Plus it will likely retain its value among knife people. Even in a small market like Denmark you could probably find an enthusiast to sell it to.

I'm sorry our knives are so expensive for you.

For an extra $75 the M390 would be worth it to me. I have one and it is is a great knife. Gave my S30v Para2 away after carrying the M390 a few weeks.

I would say that too, considering the relative prices. I decided that I wanted the better steel and I really like the blue, but the standard S30V is certainly good stuff too. The OP's pricing situation is really somewhat better than ours. My blue model will cost me almost twice what I should be able to buy a standard black model for. For the OP the blue/M390 seems to be only 38% more.
