Para2 or Citadel

Ok I'm planning on making a knife purchase on payday this Friday. Both the Para2 and Citadel are priced about the same but I can only pick one knife to buy. I can legally own and carry an auto knife so both knives would be carried. Which would you guys recommend? Thanks for the help.

I have both of em and they're both awesome knives. If weight is a factor I'd go with the pm2 but you cant go wrong with either one.

I'm simple-minded and I like my tools to be the same way. I avoid anyting that's assisted or auto because it just seems to me to needlessly complicate the simple process of opening a knife.

I vote P2.

I'm really surprised. The Citadel is usually about 40% more expensive- I can find it for around $130, while the Para 2 is as little as $90 or so.

The Citadel is discontinued, so it's on sale a lot of places.

I know here in florida we can carry what ever we want, but i would still go for the Para 2

I use to own the 83mm citadel and currently have a para2. I would hands down go for the para2; the only thing I don't like about the para2 is the open handle design. You have to be careful about having other stuff in your pocket, etc. I've nicked or dulled the blade from other items going through the open handle and contacting the blade.

Para 2. Great ergo's, and one of the better designs made IMO. It can be opened as fast as you will ever need it to, and it doesn't have as many parts as the Citidel.

Also, your not far from GA, and you can't carry the Citidel here, or most other states you may visit in the future.

If you really just want an auto, I would say get it now while you can, and the Para2 later. Or just get both now:p

You will not go wrong with a para 2. You might want to buy the citadel because you can get it at a reduced price and it is discontinued but when you eventually get the para 2, you will carry it more than your citadel.

One thing to consider is Para2 sprints are pretty cheap if pre-ordered from a dealer. Might want to grab a Citadel since it is getting discontinued and wait for the Paramilitary2 sprint that catches your fancy.

(Disclaimer, I own neither the Citadel nor Paramilitary 2)

The black Para2s seem to be running about $115-$120 shipped. I found the Citidel at $120 shipped.

I am leaning to the Para2 though

Ken,

Isn't it lawful to carry an automatic knife in GA if you have a GA "Pistol Permit"?

I just placed an order which included 4 other Spydercos, so I took the Para 2 off. But it was only $90 (admittedly, best price I've seen). Same store has the Type R for $113·

Is the Para 2 still going to be a sprint platform? I thought I read here or on the spyderco.com general forum that somebody heard they were going to move on to other knives for future sprints. I'm hoping for a P2 in CPM-M4 so I hope they will do more P2 sprints but just remember reading someplace that they might be moving along to something else.

Nope, not in GA. Carry is illegal with or without a permit unfortunately.

Do you have a link for confirmation? I've read conflicting reports on this. The GA carry web site indicates otherwise, but I've been unable to determine if they're right.

Oops - it looks like I'm derailing this thread. Sorry!

Spectre - what did you order for $90? The Para 2 or the Citadel?

Most of the sprints have been ordered by dealers, meaning they weren't Spyderco's choice. There's nothing stopping further dealer orders. Given how quick they sell out, it's safe to assume there will be a ton more.
