Parachute Hammock?

Would it be possible to use a G.I. parachute as a hammock or somehow make one into a hammock? Used parachutes are a great source of materials, but I've never heard of one used for that.

I see no reason at all why not. As I see it the only tricky part would be sorting out the spreaders at either end. A hammock without spreaders is a pain in the arse.

Maybe you could sharpen a couple sticks and just shove them through. It should spread it enough to be semi-comfortable. (I can see myself buying a parachute and trying this, just to see if I'm right.)

Wait til big skeeters find you hanging up like a ham in the forest one night! Forget thin parachute fabric get a real Clark Jungle hammock, nothing's bit me through that base fabric or the netting in 9 years!
