Hi
I know oil prevents rust and corrosion and I've been told the same about paraffin wax. I havent used paraffin on my knife before, so can anyone tell the difference between the paraffins and oils affect on a knife and how paraffin compares to the ways of corrosion protection.

Paraffin works fine, but it's a little harder to get an even coat. Can gum up a tight fitting sheath too.

Not my preferred choice, but I have used it to protect some carbon steel in the rain. I didn't have any oil with me, but did have some waxed cotton pads for fire starting. Just rubbed the blade down pretty vigorously.

I tend to carry an aerosol can of canola oil now though. Works as well as WD-40 and it's food safe(cuz it is food).

Forced vinegar patina & beeswax. Paraffin & mineral oil make the prey meat more unpalatable for both man & dog.
I carry a mini whetstone in a pill bottle half filled with rape (canola) oil.
