I bought one of these kilns direct from Paragon and am having probelms. They don't seem to know much about this product, have done zero field testing, and cannot answer quyestions reliably. I am interested if anyone eelse uses this kiln? If so, what PSI do you use for the gas and at what SCFM. Do you wrap your baldes also? How has the process worked for you?

you only need just a little positive pressure to makit work. and also only about 1 cfm. your oven is about one third of a cubic foot so one scm will fill it three times in a minute wich is more than enoughall you are trying to do is to replace the Oxegen in the heating chamber with argonand have enough flow that no oxegen can get inside while the blade is heating. with the gas present you will get no scaling and very little decarb since there is no oxegen in the chamder which is the cause of both. you will however get some when you remove the blade to quench since as soon as you open the door the hot steel will be subject to outside air. Also your element life will be somewhat shortend when using a gas purge.

I've decided I'm sending my kiln back and am thinking of an Evenheat 22.5. I would appreciate feedback on this type of kiln.

I personaly like the paragon better than the evenheat. But the only real differance is that the paragon stays cooler on the outside than the evenheat.

I think you will like the side opening door on the EvenHeat and the available safety door switch. I presume the 12 program controller is similar to what Paragon has. Paragon seems heavier built. Don't drop your Evenheat off the bench. :-)

EvenHeat continues to upgrade their kilns with developments like better controllers, better door hinges, better door latch, safety switch, 120V models and now a very small kiln designed for folders. If you were to look at a used one, some of them may not have these upgrades.
