parallel shamanic practices between Nepal and the PNW

Having met Bookies significant other I'd suggest some distance and perhaps a head start as you give the medicinal explanation.
I never seen it, probably don't carry it when she's traveling or perhaps TSA took it from her but heard she's quite adept with a bull whip.

Very nice sweet lady, guess you just don't want to rile her, actually she could be my significant others twin sister now that I ponder it some.

Howard, that's a wonderful idea...except when She Who Must Be Obeyed sees that my stogie ain't lit, she is fully aware (already) that I can't be close to an open flame......and the hammer cometh down.

I've got three things to say about that mask.
Awesome!
Imaginative!
Too cool for school!

D DaFatKid - Thanks. I appreciate your appreciation. I responded much the someway to the ancient examples and so I was inspired to try my hand at it. More of a challenge than I expected but I like the results too (my avatar has never looked better :D) - even though I took many contemporary liberties in the making.

Great job on the mask Ray! This has been a really fun read. I just about died laughing when I saw the first picture of you wearing the mask. I was not expecting that at all. However, the eyebrow and beard added a genuine distinguishing expression. Truly well done.

Thankfullness EricTheRedBeard EricTheRedBeard - glad you pulled out of your laughing death spiral, otherwise would kind of surpess your enthusiasm :) The eyebrow and beard were a result of unexpected inspiration. Pretty cool after all.
Thanks for saying.

Let there be no fungus among us.

Too late ;)

This is slightly off topic, but this spring I bought a shiitake inoculation kit and drilled and inoculated a couple dozen logs of ash and applewood and stacked them in the back yard. I hose them down every so often. I have no idea if it worked or not, and wont for another year or so. But I love eating mushrooms so this was the logical next step. Homemade miso soup with home grown mushrooms sounds wonderful for the harsh wyoming winters.

Good luck. You are right - sounds wonderful. Let us know how they manage the winter.

Oh Man! I love shiitake mushrooms! My wife wont touch them. They taste weird she says? Nothin like em. Morrels are wonderful too. Ive always wanted to try growing them. Miso is great too!

Good luck growing the shrooms. I’ve tried without success at my place. A bit too sunny and dry. I wander the forests and meadows though, and occasionally they reveal themselves.

Yeah, I am facing down 20% humidity these days. I am not pessimistic, but I am not optimistic. But hey, if it works I get a mountain of mushrooms, and if it does not work I learned something. I like the meaty portabella mushrooms in the summer, and the shiitakes more in the winter. I take the portabella mushrooms, remove the gills, and place them in a bag with fresh chopped garlic and chives over night. Those infuse into the mushrooms, and I then toss them with some olive oil and throw them on the grill. Some times I will throw little nuggets of pork shoulder into the center of them, and hit them with a small amount of applewood smoke. Assuming they make it back to the table, I serve them with the tiniest dab of horseraddish. I dont really have a recipe, I just kinda grab and go.

Yes, I made myself hungry. Time to creep to the kitchen and heat up some leftovers.

...Interesting project, nice work...
It would probly scare the Shiitake' otta somebody
in the woods...hopefully the Shamaniac doesn't show up in a nightmare

Wonderful thread! Great information illustrated with stellar modifications, and (best of all for me) a wandering thread which at one time might have prompted the response:" What has this got to do with khukris?"

The answer: EVERYTHING !!!

like time-travel back 15 years to the days when Sharp (forum owner) would be muttering to himself about all the the extraneous posting with those HI folks.

Great work Howard and RayseM.

Thanks Kis - has been great fun. Found an even bigger polypore recently - could be a winter mask in the making :) - using a khukri for the carving, of course. ;)
