thanks for the reminder, tanker, I had forgotten.

If anyone is tempted to buy a cheap Schrade tomahawk (SCAXE4)...don't. Mine lasted EXACTLY 2 throws. Granted, I'd never thrown an axe before, but still...15 bucks down the drain.

Zuluninja Zuluninja I picked up a Sog voodoo mini for ice fishing and fire pit chores. The head got a little loose. A few drops of Blue 242 solved that issue. Also put a 25° convexed edge with my Worksharp KO. I couldn't be happier with it. But I haven't sent it airborne yet.

Tomorrow i try out agility training with Battle. It will be the first time either one of us sets foot on an agility course.

Trying to decide if I'd rather do agility or nose work with him... So I'm doing a trial 1 hour private session with an agility trainer. If he seems to enjoy it i will likely stick with agility for him...

Then the new pup, Lycan, can do nose work... After obedience and after earning his AKC CGC ribbon.

I like the looks of the voodoo, but I want to start flinging sharp things and the composite handle offerings don't seem to be the ticket. I have a CS trail hawk and a spike hawk that need to be used, and maybe some scrap pieces of steel can be shaped for that purpose too.

The Cold Steel Norse Hawks and Frontier Hawks are very popular as inexpensive throwers at competitions.

I've been using Norse Hawks for several years. Norses are also popular bases for modifications. Norses became so popular when they forst came out that the rules for "legal" hawks was changed by throwing organizations to make the Norse legal.

Ate in wine country on the way home from visiting my Dad yesterday.
Stepped into New West Knifeworks shop.
Mostly kitchen knives, but a hunter and some eclectic stuff, too. S35VN blades. Made in the USA (Jackson Hole, WY.) Thin and light. Interesting blade shapes. Shapely, comfy, attractive, if excessively bright, G10 scales. (Some laminated wood and black G10, too.) Not cheap, but decent prices considering the pedigree and competition.
Not a one of the probably 6 I picked up could shave the hair on my arm.
Proprietor did mention that they've got a new sharpening guy starting shortly. But I doubt he's going to touch up everything they get in.

they're selling new knives that can't shave out of the box? and are trying to support a B&M store?? The mind boggles.

Maybe I should dull that nessmuk I have for sale and double the price. :-P

Don't you hate it when you want to buy something, and the item you want specifically costs more than the same item of a different color? Talking backpacks here. A black one, which I don't care for, is nearly half the price of an OD one, which I do want. Same damn pack...

Knives are like this too. Spyderco sprint runs are prime examples.

Ridiculous really. I was thinking about getting one of those cheapo SOG Ninja daypacks. The black one is $21.99, and the OD one is $37.99.

I can't believe that muk is still up for grabs. That thing is a stunner.
