Paramilitary 2 ( a test of patience )

The Para II has been a hot seller for Spyderco, believe it or not. I would wait on quality, v/s Spyderco increasing production with lots of defectiiiive knives.

I was looking for a blacked out PM2 about a month ago.

I just started going through the Paid-Dealer-Members-List seeing who had it.

While doing so, a dealer posted in For-Sale-Production-Knives-(Dealer) that they had some coming in, so I placed my order with them.

Only took 2 weeks from the start of my search till I had one in-hand. From the date code on the box it was only 1 month old.

I don't like ordering knives, I'd way rather buy in a shop where I can hold it even for a bit extra cash, its worth it to know you like the knife and it sits right in your hand.

If you've never held one I'd cancel your order and go to a nice knife shop and shop around. Or see if someone will.let you hold theirs :P

If you've held one and it sits perfect in your hand and you're in love with it as much as some owners then wait it out!

Personally I didn't like the pm2 just not a nice fit for me, I had to order it to figure that out but I exchanged it for a nice fixed blade at my local knife shop. Its a nice knife, i really wanted to like it, but Spyderco in general just don't do it for me.

Your title is misleading. There is no problem with a PM2 or with spyderco. The problem is with you. Either wait patiently, buy from somewhere else, or look on the exchange. Pm2s come up daily right here on this forum. That is where I got mine. No need to start a thread complaining about a situation you could easily remedy.

Where did you order from? That's a long time to wait. I myself have ordered and received a Para 2 in that timeframe. The issue isn't with Spyderco, the issue is with the dealer. I would do what TravisH suggested and look through the dealers list - HKS is a great dealer, I've had great luck with ordering from them and they're always prompt.

@ craytab-:D waiting since July would qualify as " waiting patiently" , luckily for me I've received many helpful tips from other members here with other options.

Hi,

If you decide to cancel your order and are still looking for one PM me.
I have a DLC Digi Cam that I'll be putting up on the exchange soon.

They're GREAT knives and I hope that your order goes through soon if you keep waiting.

No, that is crazy. Over 100 have been bought, sold, and then resold on the exchange in that time. Not trying to be mean. It's just the truth.

The 16 posts I've made here should give a bit of a clue that I'm kind of new at knife collecting, buying, trading etc. but I'm grateful for the helpful tips from other members guiding me through.

National knives have some models is stock and I believe they are a bladeforums sponsor.
+1 for National Knives. I got mine there last year when the Para 2's were just as scarce. I noticed National Knives got them instock a lot faster than any other place as well. Yes, they are a BladeForums dealer.

Folks, as advised by many of you I cancelled my Paramilitary pre-order and feel a whole lot better, really thinking about picking up a Benchmade 710 instead. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the tip! I already placed my order for two Paramilitary knives, yet after purchasing them i was told there's a strict one knife limit! I guess can just order another one at a later date? Anyway thanks.

I waited for 4 months for my 1st Para 2 to arrive, though thats a while back.
To me, it was worth the wait, but I did help pass that time with a new Manix 2 XL and then a BM Subrosa...

Thanks to this thread I ordered a PM 2 from National last nite. Got an all black model. Can't wait to get it!

Me too :).

Just got an email though bladehq has 3 styles in stock. They have the black/camo one too which I wanted but already put my order in for the black/black. But that's fine, I'll be getting that one later assuming I like the knife

I have two PM2s, one being all black, and I love them both. One of the all time best EDC knives around!

The Para 2 is definitely one of the best all around EDCs I've seen and used. It's in my rotation. Although Benchmade makes a great product and the Axis lock is fun and cool, the Para 2 wins hands down over the Benchmade 710 for me.
