I Noticed bento box shop still has the pm2 with foliage green Handles and Elmax steel. Is It worth the $200 price tag? I'm thinking about grabing one but I don't know. What do you guys think?

In my opinion, no. The dealer carrying the Elmax PM2s usually prices their exclusives above what you'd see with comparable models from other dealers - that's why they still have Elmax PM2s to sell.

Satin PM2s from reputable dealers - when they're in stock, admittedly - seem to be running $105-120, and S30V is a good steel. If you go for the Elmax version be aware you're paying about an $80 premium for forest green (vs digicam or black) and a bit of a steel upgrade.

I have a regular pm2 with camo and coated blade. I really love it so I figured I'd grab this one just to admire as a collector's piece simply because it is limited

If you want a sprint, I would personally wait a bit. BladeHQ and Knifeworks both have sprints coming out in CPM-M4 at some point in the future if you don't mind a carbon steel.

I want to say I've heard some talk recently about a S110V PM2 in dark blue scales also coming out.

And I definitely understand the PM2 love... I've even put up with that dealer's prices once myself.

I don't believe this applies to the OP's question. That rule is more for people trying to determine the value of a knife they own and would be looking to sell. Just asking if a specific site has a decent deal should be just fine.

I personally don't prefer spyderco's, but I do find ELMAX to be great blade steel, performs very similar to s30v but is easier to sharpen in the event when it finally does get dull. So, as much praise as the pm2 gets from the web of spydie faithfuls, I'd imagine a pm2 with an ELMAX blade would be a superb knife for someone who likes spyderco.

It's a nice knife no doubt - elmax is good and the pm2 is a great edc blade. I think the price is a little steep. At least for me.

Forgetting prices altogether, consider the steels available and choose what you like.
There's a lot of really good PM2 options and Elmax is one of them. In real world use, I find Elmax to be very similar to S30V. I don't consider Elmax to be better unless additional corrosion resistance is important to you. That's about the only area where I see Elmax to be superior to S30V.
Bottom line though...when you're talking about high quality knives like this just get what your gut is telling you to get and you'll be happy.

I can't really speak for you but I'll throw down my own philosophy:

If I'm going to buy a knife, I need to love it and have it be exactly what I want. Sometimes that means really expensive custom scales or a custom sheath or a certain blade steel. To me, price starts to become irrelevant (within reason) if it means that I'm getting something that it REALLY for me. Personally, I love Elmax, so if getting a great knife in a steel that I really love cost 80 more dollars I don't think that I would hesitate (assuming that it was still affordable for me).

Again, just my opinion!

it's not worth it for the much higher price. the standard will cut just as well, and you won't notice a difference. if you just want it for the collection or for the colored scales and that steel? than maybe it's worth it for you in that regard. for using it as a tool, it's not.

Only if Elmax, to you, is the best steel since sliced bread.

I'd argue it's only worth the money if you are a collector.

There just isn't that much of a performance difference to justify the cost over S30v.

Bento Box is very expensive, but I can respect supply and demand and that at least it's available to those of us that aren't in the Spyderco Sprint run rat race.

I personally won't buy anything from BBS.

Did you get bad service?

Their service is just fine, but many resent the way they price to take advantage of "hot" models (sprints and other desirable variations), as if we don't do the same. I for one am glad they are there for when I miss the boat and want something cool bad enough to pay the piper (such as the HAP40 Delica and Endura I received recently).

I recently paid $180 for a Kershaw Blur in 154cm, because it had an orange handle, hardly "worth" it in terms of overall materials, but worth it "to me" because I love the Blur, collect them, and the orange model is pretty hard to come by new in box from an authorized dealer.
