Paramilitary 2 with titanium scales and acid etched blade

Thought I would share a mod that I just finished up that I am particularly happy with.

Scales are full titanium from John Grimsmo and look and feel fantastic. Clip of course is from STR and is also awesome. I tumbled both and then oxidized them to darken the shiny titanium and give them a matching finish.

I acid etched the blade and gave it a quick stonewash finish. I then sharpened it to around 17 degrees per side on my WE. I also acid etched the screws to take some of the shine down.

Really pleased with how it turned out.

That is beautiful, I wish spyderco would do a ti para 2 with a super steel that's one of my grails
 
I think plenty of us have been wanting a titanium Para 2 for quite awhile. This looks great!
 
Thanks guys, glad you like it! I just realized I used the wrong size photos (too small) so I added bigger ones.

The scales themselves are smooth so not as grippy as the stock G10. But with the way the shape of the handle fits my hand I don't think it will be a problem. I could have them blasted for more grip. Also, John makes them with a machined honeycomb pattern that is much more grippy, see the other PM2 I finished up a few weeks ago, these are also titanium:

Sometimes I prefer the honeycomb ones and sometimes the smooth :)
 
It looks very good and quite unique. If it wasn't for the hole in the blade I almost wouldn't recognize it. Well done!

Will you tell me where I can find/buy the deep carry clip?

(nevermind, I found his site) Will you send me "Johns" contact information? I'm assuming he has a business with a product that looks that good!

Have you weighed the titanium vs G10 scales? Just curious.

Clip is from STR, you can find him on this forum.

Both sets of scales are from John Grimsmo. You can find him easily with a Google search. He does make these as a product although he is sold out of all the titanium scales for now. I think he is keeping a list though of interested customers and considering doing another run so send him an email if you want to get on it.

I have not weighed them but John has and said they are only slightly heavier than the G10. He milled pockets on the inside to keep the weight down.

Those black on black PM2 looks great! Been meaning to pick one of those up but haven't gotten around t it yet. It will serve you well, Spyderco makes great knives. :)
