I've said many times in the past that I've long been intrigued by Spyderco's designs, and every Spyderco knife I've purchased has more than met my expectations.
But I've never been truly sold on any one brand.
I EDC'd a third generation Endura for about a year, then a Native. Then a long period (three and a half years) where I carried nothing but a Benchmade 710.
I put that Benchmade on the shelf a month ago to give this Paramilitary thing I'd been drooling over for years a try. And I think I have to say I'm pretty well sold on Spyderco now.
This knife has been everything I've wanted and have been looking for for years in a knife. I wish I'd known years ago that a ~3 inch blade was all I needed.
Out of the box this thing came wicked sharp, but a few passes over the white Sharpmaker rods had it whittling hair. After a month of regular use, I haven't had to use anything coarser than those fine rods to bring a mirror polish back to the edge.
I still haven't gotten to use it really hard, but it's whittled plenty of skewers for grilling and some sticks for fun, and it's deanimated dozens of boxes at work.
I'm still waiting for that first good scratch on the blade, but the pocket clip is starting to show some wear so the knife is finally feeling like mine. A knife never truly feels like mine until it has a few dings.
Out of the box the knife had only one blemish. A small ding at the ricasso that doesn't impede function or stability at all.
I kinda like it. One of those little things that make it mine.
After a month of use, the blade still centers perfectly when closed and there's no play in any direction open or closed.
I've had a lot of knives in my life, but so far this is the one.
A military (maybe the Ti version if I like the looks when I see it) is going to be a Christmas gift to myself, but I honestly don't see this guy leaving my pocket anytime soon.
Like I said in my first post about this knife, I'm sorry I waited so long to get one, but I'm so happy I finally did.
