Sorry if this has been covered before, but does any one have more info on this knife, like if it is a legit spyderco? it is currently for sale on a popular auction site and it states it is a 1 of 3 proto.

People have reported seeing these at various knife shows. But photos were not allowed. I'm thinking this knife is still a ways away from being released. This is probably a very rough prototype.

Just judging from the pic I wouldn't doubt that it could be a copy. I've heard on the "forums" that there will be a fluted Ti Para II... when we'll see, who knows.

That said it looks pretty good.

Hmm wonder how that person got it if it is real, it could be yours for the small asking price of $2500 what?? I am sure you'd loose a lot of money on that thing once they go into production, cool looking though.

100% positive feedback (mostly as buyer), No returns accepted. Watching this one for the horror show.

Interesting. Doesn't look fake to me. Maybe it's a custom handle with a real blade with the logos ground off, the finish does look hand ground.
Seems odd Spyderco wouldn't label it with "prototype". I would want a little more info before I'd shell out the $$$$ for it.

If it is set to hit the market it would certainly be a sprint run.

Am I the only one that thinks a compression lock wouldn't be so nice in frame lock form?

I had the ATR. It was the stainless version, but still a compression frame lock. It was great, I still want to find one in my budget in plain edge.

You are right! Not sure how I forgot the ATR. Still the execution looks very different. It seems like it would be awkward to work the lock. At least it does to me.

Yeah, when I close a PM2 I brace my thumb on the G10 scale and pinch with my pointer finger. With that scale you'd have to brace the the right scale with a few of your fingers in order to use the pointer finger to push the lock over.

I keep my same grip and bring my thumb around to disengage the lock. With a little flick of the wrist I swing the blade down and the finger choil in the blade hits my finger. Then I switch my grip and push the blade into the handle. Most of the time.

Ah...never tried that method.

As a lefty I really appreciate the left handed friendly lock on the current PM2. Not sure it this one would be similar.

Ah...never tried that method.

I use it to break in sticky locks too. I just sit there flicking it open and then have the blade hit my finger...don't fully close it...and wrist flick it fully open. Open, half open, open, half open and so on.

This has been discussed elsewhere- the first question is obviously if this is real or not. I would think that the scale with the lockbar would be very hard to manufacture so this is likely not a quick fake.

Personally I'm not sure that I like the pattern of the flutes, I like the fluted Military more. But I would like smooth scales just as much.
