Paramilitary - which edge type to choose?

Fellows,

I really appreciate you all sharing your thoughts with me about this...and honestly, I expected to get a barrage of "plain edge - of course!"

I really do like the looks of the serrated version, but I also like the plain edge...I will certainly write back here once my order is placed to let you know which way I tipped on this. :)

Thanks a lot, Jeff.

Yes oteyj, I do...

Currently I have a plain edge S30V, and a combo edge black blade in S30V. Hmmmmm, what to do?

Jeff.

Get what ever edge YOU want ,not what you think we should tell you. That said, you are missing a full spyder-edge from the group you listed above. What does that tell you?tom.

I learned a lesson in my old motorcycle days. When I got my first motorcycle, I went the practical route... A month later I traded it in on what I REALLY wanted. Riding a motorcycle is not about praticality (ever tried to carry groceries for a family of 6 on one?)... It is about PASSION.

Knives are tools, however knife nuts love them in a more passionate way. Sounds to me that the SE Para is what moves you. You have PE knives you can carry. If you buy a PE Para, you will still want the SE right? If you buy the SE it may have been all you wanted.

If the SE moves you, then buy it and carry it with pride ;)

blackmamba,

I really like your motorcycle analogy...and you're right - it was the look of the toothy Paramilitary that initially grabbed me. I really must stop trying to be so damned sensible! Thanks, Man.

Jeff.

you're welcome...

it reminds me of an experience I had with a Benchmade. What I really wanted was the Benchmade 942SBT (black handle, black blade, partially serrated). I got a good deal on a 940 (green handle, stain blade, plain edge). I got the 940, but guess what? I still want a 942SBT... If I would have gotten it first, I could have saved some money...

and please excuse the Benchmade analogy in a Spyderco forum... I will go and repent now of knife adultery... ;)

blackmamba,

I really like Benchmade's too...I think it's fine here to discuss them. This is a tolerant bunch.

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.
