Paramiltary 2 broken tip

I was recently out at the auto salvage lot with my uncle looking for parts and i had my recently purchased paramilitary 2 in my pocket. Well anyway my uncle was in a car trying to pull an aftermarket stereo when he asked for my knife so i handed it to him with out thinking and he started prying the stereo out and snapped my tip right off :(. Now i know never to let a non knife person touch my blades...

Some lessons are learned the hard way. But, If it were me, my uncle would owe me a new PM2, or at the very least the cost of getting a new blade installed by Spyderco.

ETA: consider carrying a cheap backup specifically for loaner purposes. I usually have a main folder and a smaller in pocket SAK or similar setup. If someone asks to borrow a knife I hand them the cheaper of the two. Less to worry about.

Send it to Spyderco..They can regrind it if you cant.

And like you. I never hand out a knife.

Hey can I use your knife. Then I look and she is up against a Chain link fence as a cutting board.
Nice chip in my D2 Minigrip edge

Sorry to hear about that.
The amount of distal taper makes the Para 2 blade a real cutter, but it does leave it with a thinish tip.
Heck of a knife, and hope you'll be able to get another.

thats a lesson i learned real early on, dont give your knife to anyone, get comfortable denying people cause this is usually the end result.

Damn fine knife, but that tip is known for being on the fragile side.

Sorry to hear about your blade, man. It's not a good feeling when your knife gets handed back a little jacked up.

Spyderco doesn't reblade knives...regrind is the only way if they're willing to go that far.

That's a bummer. Maybe Spyderco can put a new blade on there for you. If I'm going to a junkyard to shop, I'm bringing a few screwdrivers and a pair of pliers, maybe even a leatherman.

Sorry to hear this, just re profile the blade, and reduce te handle size, perfect pocket EDC ;)

That would bother the heck out of me with the tip snapped off. So much that I would donate the knife and buy another one but sometimes inadequate funds comes into the picture.

That Is my biggest pet peeve against Spyderco.

No re-blade.

But Back on topic.

The people getting butt hurt becuase you say NO.

Offer to cut it for them.

Well that sucks. Why wouldn't they do it provided you send the knife to them for the repair...

CQI...Constant Quality Improvement. Changes, even minute changes alter how the blades will fit and function. Without hand fitting every blade, on a reblade, they simply cannot be assured it will work as designed. Being a relatively small outfit, hand fitting is out of the question.

Sounds like a way for them to politely say that they don't feel like messing with it..., I doubt their manufacturing or assembly process is much different from other manufacturers that DO offer blade replacement.

Either way(and back on topic), get yourself another PM2, preferably paid for by your uncle, and carry another cheaper knife to loan out to non-white people. That's my suggestion anyway.

Huh? Where is that point?

Dropped mine on a tile floor and about a 1/8" maybe a bit more snapped off. I did this on some old sharpening stones.

Try sheep foot grind instead of a point. Never lend a knife, woman or money; three sure ways to make an enemy.
