Paramiltary 2 broken tip

Wow, gotta love phone typing and auto correct! Definitely meant non-KNIFE people!!

Lol, that could have gone somewhere very ugly. Phones definitely are useful but sometimes just leave scratching your head as to why it does stuff (like this) even with that latest uber technology.

No big deal at all. The tip broke off my s90v cf military...I mailed it in to spyderco and they fixed it for me...they also sent my shipping fee back to me!! Standup company no bones about it. It's stuff like that that keeps me coming back to spyderco. I assume they reground my blade, but when I hold it upto my other military I can't see a difference in length.

I was at a party once, and this guy asked if I had a knife, so I handed him my lionsteel opera. He opened it up and started banging the edge against a beer bottle to try and get half of a cigarette out of the bottle. I quickly grabbed his wrist and told him to give me my knife back, and surprisingly, it was still razor sharp:eek:

Today I was replacing a door with my uncle and he was talking about cutting some drywall to fit the new frame. Shortly after that he asked if I had a knife, so I handed him my Spyderco Gayle Bradley and I suddenly thought "oh no, what did I just do?"... He started approaching the drywall with my GB, but went around to the other side to trim the insulation:rolleyes: Phewww!!! I thought he was gonna start hacking away at the drywall:D:rolleyes:

I got this one in trade from a local dealer awhile back. Don't know the history, but it looks like a tip was broken and professionally reground. Spyderco possibly did the work because it looks perfect, but I have no history.

I learned that lesson a few times. Never again. I have very few friends who get loaned "the good knife". All the rest who ask get the Pakistan special. If that one gets broke, I'll buy another one at the gas station for 5 bucks.

If it was my uncle, best believe he would be the new owner of my broken PM, and be buying me a new one! But with my uncles I wouldn't even have to ask! It's a crying shame - I am down to only 1 surviving uncle, and I know Jerry Don would replace my knife, no questions asked. All the ones who have passed on would have too.

If it was new, Im sure someone on the exchange would snap it up with the broken tip just to have a project- of course you wont get top dollar, but you could use the proceeds to buy a new one.....then bill your uncle for the extra you had to put in, probably 25 or 30 bucks difference. Of course Im kidding about the billing your uncle, but you would be better off just getting rid of it and getting a new one because if you are anything like me- the "fixed" broken tip would drive me nuts. A manix tip would not have broken like that, which is why I only kept a para 2 for a day.

Hmmm. I can't say anything about your knife other than I KNOW spyderco fixed my broken military and it looks nothing like that. The tip profile looks how it should, and is identical to my other military...maybe just a hair shorter overall, but I can't really tell side by side.

Send the knife into them and call it a day. If it comes back not to ones OCD liking then just sell it and be transparent about the history.

I should have said the fit and finish looked factory. I actually looked to make sure Spyderco never made a sheep's foot PM2...:D

Thanks alot guys! After further inspection its not as bad as i made it out to be. Probably just being ocd about the whole thing. Its definantly repairable and i think i will try and reprofile the tip myself and go from there. Plus it gives me an excuse to make it my own

Well that's good. It's still a shame though. Ten years ago I wouldn't have hesitated to let someone use my knife. It was a gerber paraframe. :). Now, no way. We are the minority, unfortunately. I usually carry my endura and a small old school slip joint. I'll let the guys I work with use my slip joint if they need a knife but they have also been thoroughly educated on my blades and how I treat them.

Dropped mine on a tile floor and about a 1/8" maybe a bit more snapped off. I did this on some old sharpening stones.
