Or alternatively titled: my one year giveaway
In a couple weeks it will have been a year since I joined the forums. Lots of fond memories over the past twelve months of staying up all night near tears wrestling with the sharpening stones, regretting impulse buys, selling for huge losses on the exchange...but it ain't been all bad! I've witnessed a lot of extreme generosity around here. And also gained appreciation for simplicity. I've ran the gambit from supersteeled flippers and flickers one year ago to dropping an Opinel, Douk-Douk, or Sodbuster in my pocket nowadays (seems to be a common phenomenon around traditional forum...). I feel like its been some kind of catharsis. But maybe I just tell myself that as justification for all the money I've flushed down the drain
. Anyhow, I don't contribute much, but I lurk plenty and have picked up quite a bit from hanging around these parts. Up for grabs are four blades to serve as tokens of my appreciation.
A.) Mercator K55K Cat
New and unused! Carbon blade. Blade rubs liner, but locks up tight with a huge snap.
B.) Ulster TL-29
I originally won this in a giveaway way back from jujigatame (here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1094339-*GIVEAWAY*-How-about-a-TL-29-gt-gt-Winner-is-klineh-lt-lt?highlight=TL-29+jujigatame)
I vowed to take pictures and post an update but never did because I'm a lousy bum! So on account of my criminal negligence I figure it's best I pass this one along
. I gave her a mineral oil bath to bring back the luster to the beautiful wood covers (methinks cocobolo, but I'm no expert). Also peened the pin with some help from ddml, as the blades were super wobbly. They tightened right up and all she needs is a good edge put on her!
C.) Opinel Carbon 3 3/4" Paring Knife
You can only buy these in packs of two. I use one in my kitchen and love it. Here's the other one new and unused! Every bit as awesome of a thin, rugged, slicer as the folding Opinels.
D.) Kutmaster, Utica, NY, USA 3 7/8" Stockman
Synthetic covers. These blades are super thin and look to be mostly full, even have good edges on them that don't need much touching up. Blades are tight with good snap, sheepsfoot and spey rub. Crack on center pin. Clip sits low in the frame and tip smacks the backspring. Previous owner was aware of this as I had found an ancient piece of pulverized steel wool sitting under the kick when cleaning it out! Should make a real solid user.
Criteria:
This is open to all bladeforums users with paid memberships regardless of post count
AND unpaid members with at least 25 posts in the traditional forum.
Those outside of the states, feel free to participate, I'll ship wherever.
Take your pick of which knife/knives you'd like a shot at and include them in your post. If you'd like a shot at multiple list them in order of desirability (i.e. 1st choice Mercator, 2nd choice Opinel, etc.).
Feel free to post a picture or a tale or whatever you fancy. Or a simple "I'm in" will suffice. Post as much as you like, only initial posts will count as your entry.
I'll let this one run for five days and announce the four winners Monday evening via random number generator.
WINNER'S ANNOUNCED!!!
In order of selection...
1. #5 Cereal_killer
2. #47 wolf-man-12
3. #13 ol' smoke
4. #40 confucius37
Take care all~
