Parkerizing WIP

That is a good question. Some Googling about it did not turn up a lot, but it looks a bit dubious. It might be good to explore iron phosphate or other methods rather than zinc or manganese phosphate.

Thanks chuck!! when you said fully glued up knife did you mean a handle with glued on scales or cord wrapped.

Guard and handle. I have not done a cord wrap before.

The manganese phosphate should be fine. I would not do a zinc though. Still as Salem recommended do google search and see if there is anything out there.

Okay, I have emailed the manufacturer of the solution with the safety on food prep knives issue. I do not recommend using it on kitchen knives until I get a response. Manganese in its raw state can cause some serious health issues.

If you really want a coated blade maybe ceracoat would be better.

I got a reply from the MFG, Here is what they said;

" Greetings,

Manganese Phosphate should not be used on food preparation equipment. It is
not recommended for contact with food since particles will likely end up in
it. It would also not be very easy to clean.

Best Regards."

Do not use on kitchen knives.
