Bicycle Observed Trials. Good stuff. Check out a guy named Ot Pi, he is amazing.
I used to ride motorcycle observed trials at the amateur club level, still have a Gas-Gas TXT 280 (01) in my garage. Motorcycles are difficult enough, I can't imagine doing it on a bicycle.

DaddyDett... I used to ride Observed Trials back when I was a youngster! I was riding in Minn. with UMTA (Upper Midwest Trials Assoc). I was horribly over-biked with a Yamaha TY-250 (it rode me more than I rode it), but I had a blast. I'd love to get involved again someday.

I agree... riding a motorcycle was tough enough.
 
Just checked out some Parkour clips to make a fast assumption...have to agree, the parkour guys mostly have french accents and designer labels.

These bicycle stunts are over the top!

Folks, this has GOT to be better than FA Cup Football.
 
I remember Montesa, Ossa, Bultaco. I used to own a 74 TY250, sold it a couple years ago.
I remember watching Mick Andrews do a trials demo at the 1972 Cycle World Show in LA.
Montesa (now partially owned by Honda) still produces trials bikes. In the 2000 time frame, the Bultaco name was resurrected for a short time, but is now Sherco. Ossa has gone the way of the dinosaur.

Good to know there are some others with memories of these marques. But looking at the current models all I can say is "if only back in the day we had these ...!!!" ;) :D
 
The modern bikes are amazing to ride, ultra manageable power and great handling. At 156 lbs wet, my Gas-Gas is now heavy by comparison to the 09's. Out of the crate, a modern bike is very rideable for all levels, up to and including the top 5 Natl riders. They change the shocks, and maybe do a lil carb work, that's it!

I checked the web site for the trials club I used to belong to and found that my old '74 TY 250 would qualify for the 'Vintage' class competition :D. I guess that was 33 years ago, but somehow I don't feel vintage.

I'd love to get involved in trials again.... but it is kind of down the list money-wise. From what I saw, a new bike would run $4000-6000? Too many things that need to be bought before I can get a bike.
 
4-6K is about right. However, the modern bikes are SO good, a 3-5 yr old bike for 2500-3K is still very competitive. I have no doubt my 01 is even still competitive in any class at the club level.
 
i wouldnt quite say parkour is for wimps....but danny mac has got mad skills...

intro chase scene of casino royale is one of the lead guys in parkour...
